I am scared of medical checks... Are you?

Its that time of the year when I have to go for my master health check up and am terrified. I have always feared doctors. The sight of a doctor made me weak on my knees.
As a child I hid every health problem for the fear of a doctor visit until it got the better of me.I would cry each time the doctor came home to check on me
In my teens I went to visit an aunt who was in hospital. The minute I entered the room I felt queasy and fainted.
The fear just grew every year. I have this feeling I suffer from some health defect and the minute they diagnose it I will shrivel into depression that will eventually kill me. I am very weak at heart and can't bear pain.
Even after two C-sections under GA ( My doctor knew I wouldn't have the guts or rather she wouldn't have the patience to withstand my attitude through it) my fear for doctors hasn't gone away.
Here I am trying to book an appointment for my master check-up, finding imaginative reasons to postpone it by another year...or if possible a lifetime

Scared of seeing your doctor is the lack of courage in you, like dark is the absent of light ., turn on the light your room lost dark lo.
The fear in you is a power leak it harm yourself and been tortured every moneent by it. Stop the leak, Step forward
Be brave, face the challenge, not the end of everything, take a big breath, go for check up lo

Well, I seldom have a health check up proactively, I often do it under force.

@buzzg3 As ordinary people, we would not have health check regularly.

@transcendent Yes Jerry we only go to the doctor when we have a problem and can't self medicate ourselves

I hope you will overcome your fear for doctors because we all need to see a doctor every now and then especially when we grow older.

My only fear is they won't "over-diagnose" and prescribe needless medicines
I believe our body is the best pharmacy with potential to self heal if we don't tamper with it.
However, for certain issues we have to take medicines.
I go for check-ups with a take that our body can never be perfect and test results too can differ over time - siva

Exactly Sir....With due respect to the genuine doctors around...I find the medical profession becoming a business now...While our forefathers lived to reach 100 with that little bump on the leg that just wouldn't go, we go to a specialist just because that big pimple on the chin lasted for more than two days!!!!!!...I am so frightened that leave alone a diagnosis ..a mere misdiagnosis would drive me to heights of depression

@buzzg3 I have seen cancer patients dying in two years after relentless treatment and in twenty four months without treatment.
I don't jump to conclusions and far from hypochondriac. Fear is self-fulfilling.
When we accept what life offers with gratitude and change what we can for the better then we are fulfilled in life.
My view is live in moderation and have a healthy mind more than a healthy body - siva

Me too! I am a natural worrier :) I imagine all sorts of problems will come out in my medical report. However whatever has come out is manageable till now.
I can understand your feelings....but once you go through with it it seems silly to have worried.

@responsiveme Thanks so much for the reassurance. You should see me sulk after the test until the reports are out. I pray to all the Gods I know

I am not scared of a checkup, but I am lazy and cheap. My insurance is not good, so I know if I go for a regular checkup with my doctor, with the tests that he runs, it was going to be $150-$200 for everything. I know a part of me is lazy, but a lot of me think about the cost.
