Back Surgery Advice Please

So I have had herniated disks since I was 13. I am now 22 and my disk is pinching the root of my sciatic nerve. I have had to stop working till I can get the surgery done but I have 3 months left before my child is due. I have never had surgery and I am freaking out. The doctors say the surgery could help or make it worse. Everyone I have talked to that has herniated disks have never got surgery and can't give me any advice or insight of what to expect. Can someone please help!

Open surgery is in critical procedures especially if spinal nerves are affected. If it is not severe, it can still be treated conventional management. You can try to consult a Physiatrist.

@crystalrae I guess the condition is really serious. That's the best thing we can have to refrain from being paralyzed.

I had back surgery when I was 12 for scoliosis. I had to wear a back brace during junior high, in which I hated it. I do have the rod in my back to this day with some wear and tear. That caused my lower back pain for the past 2 years. I wish I can help you out. But just relax and trust in your doctors. Ask for a 2nd opinion if you have to.
