"Fairness" Syndrome

Ours is a country obsessed with fair skin. Women and now men too, strive to obtain skin which is several degrees fairer than their natural tone. In the process, beauty products and skin whitening creams are making a booming profit. I feel that beauty is not merely skin-deep and that very often people who are not very fair are endowed with much better other features. Also, these myriad beauty products, being chemicals may be harmful in the long run. Your take on it, friends?

Because these people are so shallow, they think if they looked fair, they might be beautiful, ugly is ugly dark or not.

Yes its a strange world where people judge others by looks.I have seen many beautiful faces hiding ugly evil personalities inside them.

I don't have fair skin and I still want my skin to get even darker not fairer. I love my skin and i have confidence in the way i look. though a lot of women in this country want to be as fair as snow white because most men are attracted to fair-skinned girls.

I don't go for beauty products. I am comfortable with my skin tone. Inner beauty is far better than outside beauty.
