In Ancient MyLot

In the original myLot there was a guideline that said not to post discussions that were duplicate of others. Try to find original topics.
If that were in the guidelines today and people followed them we would not have had such a multitude of discussions of empty banks.
We would have all focused on one discussion about the anomaly.
I am certainly glad the admin team worked hard and got the earnings records back where they belonged. They could have answered on all of our many discussions, but used their time more wisely. I would guess the problem was related to changing the minimum payout.
I never once even imagined that they had absconded with the earnings. Admin here are honest.
Now we will see a plethora of discussions about our earning records being made correct again.
Let's find some new topic, Okay?
Keep calm and myLot on.

Personal stuff seems to go well, and whatever is going on in your life is different from what is going on in my life.So that would be original.

@pgiblett Yep, those are original and give opportunity to others who want to agree or disagree.

I am glad they fixed it. I did do a discussion as to if anyone else was experiencing a problem. I did not panic. I was curious and asked calmly.

I responded to several discussions, and by looking at other people's discussions and seeing that it was a prominent discussion, I knew it was not just me. I did ask @JJ in one of his discussions but as far as I know, I did not hear back. . . I will tiptoe off to look now.

When I saw a zero balance yesterday I actually didn't pay it any attention. It didn't stop me from reading discussions and commenting. I didn't even think to post a discussion about it.
Guess that shows that I am here for the long haul. This is due to the friendships I have made. Thank you Heather and way too many others to mention you all.

That is a sign of an old hand. I do track my earnings, I did feel a little in the dark, but I knew it would get fixed or improved.

When so many of us have been around the internet for so long, we begin to know that glitches happen.

LOL! I didn't know anything happened with our banks today until Bernie suggested this thread. (Thank you, Bernie!)
I have a problem posting to your threads.... IDK why there is a problem, though.. (shrug!) I don't try often, so it is not important.

What kind of trouble do you have. I am not aware of having an "Evil Repelling Shield" or anything of the sort. Sorry.

@GardenGerty It is okay. sometimes comments I write or comments written to me disappear. It happens more often on your discussions, but it can happen on anyone's discussion.
Don't worry about it. I still leave comments all over the place. If some disappear, I can live with that.

Duplications still existed back then because it was not so easy to trace whether a topic had been covered. I realise that it was less prolific, but still occurred. We even had many duplications of categories because some members never bothered to check before creating another.

Oh, I know, search did not work really well and they did not have the most recent category so readily available. I have not seen you around in a while. Have I just been here at the wrong time?

I got here late last night. I looked at my total and panicked. No money for June 1. Tried to write a discussion of what happened to the money. It would not go through on several tries and re-dos. Even captured a screen shot.
Then I checked and there was nothing for any other month. Hmm. Must be a tech problem. Checked again this morning and everything looks normal again. Amazing what a night of sleep can do.

I have found that if I am trying to post a discussion from the earnings page it never goes through. I still make a mistake and do it occasionally. I checked previous months, saw they were also empty, saw all the discussions and rested in the knowledge that it would get fixed.

The reason there were so many posts about empty banks is simple, each person thought they were the only ones with the problem. The thing is, many of us are afraid of being booted out because of something they did wrong. This is a normal response to this type of issue. If nobody posted a discussion at all, for fear of being redundant, then, the problem may have lasted longer and created more panic.

You nailed it, @lookatdesktop. I wondered if I was banned. I thought of all the recent posts I did and wondered which one of them was against policies. I thought it was only my problem, at first.

@akalinus , I thought the same thing and that is why I posted my discussion just to see if any one else had issues. Is there an issues page? I thought that if there was a single location, an URL address that provided site status and current issues we could all go there just to find out what was up and what they were working on if anything, that way, no one would have to to bother worrying and thus anyone could, at any time, just go to that page and see the stats of this site and see if any issues were pending.

I know that many still had a bad taste in their mouth from some other sites. I even did the same little check list in my mind.Did I violate anything. I even wondered if they were paying early and including June 1 and 2. So then I looked at all my earnings history and it was all zeroed out. That is when I knew it was a glitch. There is not an issues page, but looking at the recent discussions I could see many discussions saying the same thing. So I did not try to contact admin, did not write a discussion. From what I am reading from others about some other parts of the problem, even if we had a URL for issues, it might not have worked.I also had at least one friend who thought outside the box and feared the site was hacked.

That is correct, but it got to a point last night that everyone was just talking about the missing money. I can understand people being concerned, but we need new things to talk about.

@shshiju Yes, money or the bank matters in many ways. In some places what people earn here is a big part of their budget.

It would have been much better if the admin sent a notification to all those , whose account was showing zero. And asking them not to panic, and let them know some maintenance was going on..

@vijay_2016, based on what I have read here, everyone was affected. I also think something was wrong and Alex and Bugs could not correspond with us. I know many people tried to contact them and could not. I did expect to see an administrative advisement as well. Then I decided that if they did that it would take them away from trying to fix what ever was wrong. @responsiveme how wise of you. It is not usual. In fact, once you begin posting and interacting you account never goes back to zero. By the time your earnings for the previous month have been subtracted you have earned more. I checked to see if I had accidentally gotten logged out.

My account showed zero too.I did wonder what had happened but magically the figure reappeared. Now I see lots of people had the same problem.
Actually being new here I was not very worried. I thought it was usual :) .I thought they were doing some end of the month calculating to carry it on to the next month , or something.

The zero balance didn't bother me as much as not being able to view a friend's discussion to reply to. So not being allowed to create a duplicate post is not longer in the guidelines?

It does still say not to create a duplicate post. Most people I see responding feel that if it is not copied word for word it is not a duplicate. They do not think of duplicate ideas. I do not know how well search works, but it is not difficult to look at "recent discussions" and see that is the only topic.I did not have any trouble responding, but did not have much to respond to.

If that rule was in affect a lot of discussion would have to stop including the challenges which are pretty popular.

I will do an occasional poetry challenge but not lately. I think they show creativity. I think many of the others fall under the category of a poll or game. In the old myLot we were paid for OUR actions and that was a way to artificially increase our activity, saying things like "thank you" or "I agree" or listing our favorite flavor of something. I think, and this is only my thought, that since we now get paid for interactions of others, those are left up to see if they attract any interaction. The tend to be self limiting.

@GardenGerty I think some where you sort of introduce yourself have merit since the better we know each other the more we enjoy interaction.

After all the discussions I've come up with and so little exposure I'm frustrated to find new topics, why to have a few people see them then they are buried? Any suggestions?

I believe that it is relationships as much as it is content that draws exposure for me. I have ten years worth of connections here. I make an effort to reply to all responses on my posts and visit a few profiles every day. On the other hand I am on vacation, I have barely been here, and people are still finding my discussions. I am kind of bland most of the time in my posts. I understand that discussions that mention myLot, or earnings earn the most. Titles that have double meanings can attract attention. If you stay and are fairly active you will find that you get more exposure. I wrote this discussion out of frustration with how every one panicked and the entire site was filled with nothing but posts about the glitch in the bank that day.
