A walk through the park.....or tram line.

Throughout the cold afternoon last winter, we walked along the tram tracks around Maidan area in Kolkata. It is a tourist destination, a jogging park, a player's field, a resting place and also has the most popular places in its periphery. Only concentrating on the Tram tracks, it is a scenic walk of about more than two kilometres. It branches and combines, with the trees throwing shades of different contours and the Sun turning bright orange. Doesn't even feel tiring enough to take a rest. But I should have worn a fitting shoe instead of a platform: it was killing my feet. I still get a headache taking in the whole Maidan area because it is so huge with different streets and roads cutting in different directions. But I guess that is part of the fun. After all, if I knew it by heart, where was the fun in exploring? Have you got a place worth exploring where you live?

There are so many places worth exploring in my area. We have two lakes and there are mountains all around us. In the city where I was born in Italy we had tram lines.

Yeah I've heard about tram lines in Italy and some other European countries. The routes are quite beautiful. Also your home town has a marvelous location from what you are describing I would love to visit in the future!

We live five minutes away from the Waitakere ranges which is a huge park on the West coast of Auckland. It has miles of tramping/hiking trails, beaches, forest and waterfalls. I love to explore different parts.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search The Waitakere Ranges are a chain of hills in the Auckland Region, generally running approximately 25 km (15.5 mi) from north to south, 25 km west of central Auckland, New Zealand. The maximu

This sounds like a beautiful place worth detailed exploring. I wish I could navigate through the less-trampled trails and experience Nature in all its glory. Thanks for this amazing contribution!

Which river is it? Being lost while exploring the river is fascinating though! Glad to know you came to my city once. The city is almost the same except some changes in the buildings.

In winter it is a good experience. In monsoon it gets waterlogged.

yeah most of North Kolkata gets muddy and waterlogged during monsoons. That's why the best time to visit these places start from the time of Pujas and continue upto February.

I'm from Kolkata too and I think there are too many good places in Kolkata to mention only one. But if you are a true Kolkata-ian you will even love the traffics, the verbal fights between aunties, the passion of bargaining, the street food, the Bengali language mixed with others, etc. There is just too much to love about Kolkata and I won't ever have enough words.

Totally! The city has a story tucked in everywhere. Every road I turn into, something new will emerge an surprise me. I myself go to college on College Street which is a heritage place, and I'm lucky enough to belong to such a place The street food is great here! Love this city. I know most of the places by heart but only the Maidan area confuses me. I guess some more trips will end that too.

Also, speaking uninhibitedly in my mother tongue Bengali has enriched my life to the fullest. An experience in Kolkata is never-ending.....bargaining for dress, jewellery and handbags in New Market and enjoying Christmas evening in Park Street: nothing can beat these!

That is true.....it can get tiring while walking around such a great city like London. I have a question for you. What is the best way to tour London in 3/4 days? I read several blogs as I plan to do so one day, but they are different in different sites. Can you inbox me the answer or just write it here? I want to extensively tour England sometime in the future.
