When you're down, what words do you find comforting? This too shall pass...It's always darkest before the dawn...the Bible verse: What time I am afraid I will trust in Thee..
There are good verses, poems, songs, and sayings that help people who are down. Tell me all you have. Give me your wisdom!

When I get really anxious about a particular event, say I'm in a group and don't feel comfortable, I keep saying 'this time tomorrow it will all be over' or whatever time frame fits. I don't know why but I always find just saying this to myself helps me cope with the situation.

I skip the comforting phrases and go straight to "I want to go home". Unless I am really anxious when I am liable to blurt out "I'm going to set fire to my hair" - which I never do, btw. It's really just an obscure cry of anxiety and stress.

I just keep repeating soon this will be over, soon this will be over or this too shall pass and guess what? It always does.

I don't think if i should give you one. Right now I'm pretty much in shackles myself. But always remember that today is priority, therefore you shouldn't worry about tomorrow.

Sometimes I'll hum or sing, and that sometimes, depending on the situation, will pull me out of the down feeling that I have. Sometimes I'll go and change things up, go for a walk or talk to someone that I haven't talked to in a while.
Can I ask what's eating you?

For me, recalling what older family members have endured is a reminder that little time should be spent 'in the dark' and moving (even if only mentally) to better days begins now.

"This too shall pass" and " Don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow has its own worries.Todays's trouble is enough for today."
I also believe that prayers work.

Have you been down lately?
I guess "This too shall pass". My mom used to use it, and I never felt like it really did anything when I was younger.. but of course when I was younger every little problem seemed like the end of the world. Now I kind of use the saying to calm myself when I get stressed... I remind myself this won't matter next year or perhaps next week. I'll forget all about it, so no sense getting all worked up over it now.

Today is the day that you worried about yesterday and all is well.
