Love letters or electronic texts?

June 9, 2016 4:34am CST
I prefer writing letters rather than tapping fingers on my phone to send a message. It doesn't mean I post letters in the letter box to send it to my friends. But the feeling of writing a letter to your beloved is so beautiful. Letter carry emotions; those you can touch and feel. It signifies how passionately someone has shared his/her feelings with you by spending hours to give that letter a final touch. It shows you how much you matter to them. The excitement of waiting for it, getting it, and reading it with a large beautiful smile on your face makes it even more amazing. The writer himself re-reads it a hundred times before giving it to his loved one. Such a beautiful feeling this is. And then at last, the secret tunnel like places you search in your house to keep those mementos of love hidden from others is a feeling only few will understand. I know many will find this idea crazy but I hope to find here at least one who has the same opinions like mine.

We were taught letter writing at school, in all 3( Hindi, English and mother tongue) languages. But I think its been years that I wrote a letter. I wrote one to my grandfather when I was a child..and one to my class teacher for leave. The toughest part is you dont have backspace while writing, so we need to clear about what we want to write, frame the sentence correctly and have a beautiful handwriting..Not easy

Yes @vijay_2016 Agreed. And that is what makes it so interesting. That is how your concern, passion for the receiver is reflected in your writings.

I'd love to receive letters. Last birthday I received a card. It's a feeling nothing compare to emails and electronic messages. Seeing someone's penmanship or handwriting is a treasure to keep.

There is something to be said about a handwritten letter I do feel. Even postcards, birthday cards, holiday cards. Feels like I am seeing fewer and fewer of these!

I think technology isn't the reason behind it. Our addiction to it is the reason.

I agree. Me and my girlfriend write letters for each other from time to time. We don't send it through the postage but rather give it to each other.

@bacon147 I tried doing this with my ex. It never interested her. I hope to find a girlfriend like yours in future.

I don't find it crazy at all.I belong to the love letter generation.:) I used to hang around waiting for the postman so that I could take the letter before it fell into the family's hand.ha ha

For me, written letters are far better than text messages. The feeling of excitement is always receiving a letter from Mr. Postman. The sad part, it has been a long time that I haven't received any snail mails.

Yes @Shavkat Disappointing that the technology has snatched away a lot of our beautiful memories.
