Working for free

Some years ago, I had an experience based on working full time for a company, but the owner didn't pay salary to anybody. Of course, the company closed, situation which was forced by the police. After that, I listened about more companies which don't pay the salary to the workers and this situation still exists today. Honest people working for money which they never see. It's a hard situation, but it's the reality.
Does someone passed through a similar situation?

I had gone through the same thing when it came to working for one of my family member's companies in the summer. Long hours, hard work, and no pay in the end. I do believe that it is illegal to do that, especially if a contract or agreement was put in place when you began working for the company.
You should probably try to look into compensation for your troubles, because a situation like that is terrible.

The owner made oficial contracts to all employers and almost everybody reported the situation. Some of them already got their money from the public institution. Nobody should really pass through something like that. As you say, it is terrible.
Thank you for your comment.

I have been ripped off by being under-paid but only once not paid at all

@Meramar that happens here too though i'm thinking of bosses who promise more money than they finally pay out

@arthurchappell If someone offers a high salary in an interview for a job, it might be better to distrust. There are many persons outside promissing a higher salary than they really are able to afford.
