Ironing Clothes is Really a Burden

Since I stopped hiring a helper to wash and iron our clothes, I had it done for my family.
It started when we bought an automatic washing machine, so there's less burden, but the other half of the burden remained: ironing clothes. Had it this afternoon for tomorrow's office uniform of my husband and for the corporate attire of my son. I also ironed several sets to last till Friday.
I rarely iron mine because I rarely go out of the house, unlike them who need well-ironed clothes everyday.
Have you experienced ironing clothes too?

Yes, it is a chore that every housewife/woman or anybody could not love doing.

Some of my clothes does not need ironing too, though we have to wear cotton material because of the warm weather in our country almost throughout the year, and it needs ironing.

Ironing need time.
The consumption of time for ironing clothes is more but burns too many calories.
Dry iron is quick but not not that effective whereas steam iron is perfect and it obiviously takes double the time to that of dry iron

I don't use a steam iron, just a dry iron though I chose a very light weight one.

I have never had anyone do my washing and ironing although from time to time I've had a cleaner come in occasionally. I don't really mind ironing but I don't have of ironing to do either. Now that my husband has retired I don't even have any business shirts to iron.

@acelawrites It was good of you to help her out - and let her maintain her dignity by doing something for the money.

I hired a laundrywoman some years ago because I also wanted to help her and her children. She was abandoned by her husband and has four children to raise. Good thing she qualified for the cash transfer program of the government for her children's studies.

We are in the same boat, @Lucky15. It is really hard, but fulfilling knowing you had done something good for the family.

I'm raising my hand. I do my own laundry even if we have a helper. And with that I iron my own clothes. I don't just trust my clothes to others.

Maybe you are sensitive about your clothes. Also there are some helpers who do not do it well.

@acelawrites Correct. Instead of being stressed over it I decided to do it on my own. It is not just clothes, I care for all of my things.

Yes, it is so hard to do if you do it frequently. But if you are young, those chores are so easy to do.

@acelawrites Absolutely! I'd like to get rid of it in this move, but I know that would probably not be a good idea.

You are an industrious man! I like men seeing doing the ironing; my husband does it too when he immediately needs a shirt or polo he wanted to wear. He also did it when we were working and living far from each other.

Of all the household chores I think ironing is the worst of them all. We have washing machines, floor sweeping and mopping devices and also automatic window cleaners but no one has yet invented an automatic ironing machine. Surely some smart scientist can come up with one. Perhaps a robot with AI built-in intelligence to do the job. I believe the obstacle is cost.

As @sol_cee said, "there should be a machine that iron clothes by itself, " just like an automatic washing machine. Who knows, someday, some inventors can do it.

Yeah! I have already experienced ironing clothes. Not really easy especially if it is pleated (skirts).

It is so hard to iron pleated clothes, it took so long and so hard to make the pleats go straight.

The automatic washing machine uses little amount of water, but of course it uses electricity too, so our electricity bill soared a little.

Good you have a nanny to do it. This is one of the burdens of women working at home and she has to do all the chores from dawn to dusk!

Yes, I love ironing my work clothes. One of the best chores I love doing, aside from manually washing my clothes and doing the dishes.
