Tap or Bottled Water?

Do you drink water right out of the faucet or do you only drink bottled water? I still drink the tap water though I must admit ever since the terrible water situation in Flint, Michigan, I eye my own city water with suspicion. Of course who knows what goes into the bottled water? They say it's from a bubbling stream or a clear and cold artisan well, but can we be sure? With all the taxes we pay, you would think that the safety of what we drink and eat should be assured. It isn't so. Businesses care about the bottom line and unfortunately governments are run like businesses. I drink more bottled water these days. And still some tap water too. I guess you just have to trust the powers-that-be like the folks in Flint did. Right.
Lyrics to Brad Paisley's song, Don't Drink the Water, featuring Blake Shelton. It's off his latest album, This is Country Music! I own nothing, it belongs to...

We are not supplied with any water here and catch the rain water off our roof. It goes into a big tank and is then piped back to the house. It is beautiful water to drink and I only buy bottled water if we are out and I don't have any with me.

I drink it straight out of the tap (faucet). A little while ago my husband had a fad for just drinking bottled water. I considered it a waste of money, so would refill the bottle with tap water and he was none the wiser.

Oh - a little sneaky there - ha ha. I think tap water is safe too. Though it often tastes bleachy.

I generally drink the water from the tap, although I do try and be aware of any warnings about the water and such.

I never think to look for warnings. I wouldn't know where to look.

@suziecat7 I'm not always sure where to look either, but things like this have a way of getting to me one way or another.

Bottled water has this aftertaste that makes tapwater a winner for me.

Some of them do have an aftertaste especially the ones that say electrolytes added.

I filter my tap water through a Brita filter. i almost laughed when I read bottled water coming from a bubbling stream or artisan well. A good deal of the bottled water comes from tap water that has been filtered. In other words, filter your tap water and you have the same thing.

@suziecat7 I watched a news report on this. If part of a city's water comes from a bubbling stream (and many rivers start from or have bubbling stream contributing to them) or artisan well then they can legally say their bottled water is from a bubbling stream or an artisan well. I forgot which bottled water it was but one came right out of the New York City tap. So you may be drinking nothing but New York City tap water albeit filtered. And that filter is probably no better than a filter you would use at home.

I could still remember those days when we could just drink the water right out of the faucet. Sad to say we can't now :( Just this summer the city where I live here in the Philippines was hit with an epidemic. Due to extreme heat, no rain for months, the water became scarce and water supply also got contaminated. So a lot of kids got sick because of it..Thank goodness for bottled water, we had to buy and sacrifice buying it. I had my husband buy us 10 gallons of it per week just for water consumption..from cooking to drinking we had to buy the bottled ones and we can't rely on the water from the faucet. Those were just for washing clothes and cleaning etc.

We used to drink the purified water from the deep well run by the water electric pump . But since it was drained because it's summer , we buy our water , by gallons for drinking .

@suziecat7 Actually , this is the first time that it happened . My husband said it could be also that the spring inside is gone already . We will be hiring someone who will fix the deep well soon . If it needs to be dug deeper than it will be done .

We have our own well here, and we do drink the water from it. If the water did not taste good, I'd go for bottled.

We drink from a gallon of bottled water in our house. But I sometimes drink straight from the faucet because water from the gallon gets warm in hot days while tap is usually much cooler and has less taste.

@hereandthere That too. But sometimes, the pitcher just runs out of water because somebody drinks it all up and doesn't refill it. We also have ice in the freezer. I'm usually too lazy to take the ice, though so I just drink from tap.

We drink bottled water at home and we're confident of its cleanliness. One of our daughters had been on a field trip to the bottling plant of the water brand we're buying and saw how hygienic their process was.

We used to drink from bottled water before but since we have an on-going house construction, we are trying hard to cut our budget. At present, we just drink from tap water. Nothing's bad happen so far. Once we finished all the house projects then we might go back to bottled water.

In France, the quality of tap water depends mainly of the place where we live, but it is supposed to be drinkable. Where I live actually it comes from a deep source, it is not chalky and comparable to a mineral water. In my previous place, it was a water filtered from a river, it was tasting bad and I was buying bottled water...

Brita water filter pitchers come in different sizes and colors but they all bring you fresh tasting water! Read water filter pitcher reviews here.
