We have two gallon glass jars in our kitchen cupboard. One holds white flour and the other white sugar. When I made the cherry pie yesterday I put the sugar jug back on the shelf that the flour jug usually lives on. Didn't think it that big a deal. I happened to spot dear hubby making oatmeal this morning. Stop!!! the action. He grabbed the jar that should have been sugar. Sweetened oatmeal right? How about floured oatmeal?? Tasty stuff. Not.

Wow I can imagine... You should really get different jars (one green and another one blue for example), or maybe even use stickers. What if somebody decided to sweeten their tea? Hope nobody gets hurt ;)

The trouble is, he can't see at all, so he relies on position at times to know what things are. So stickers and colors wouldn't really help. Maybe a big ruffly hair tie around the neck of the jar so he could feel it.

@TopRear and @Rohvannyn Hubby is so independent and just him that I forget that he could get goofed up when I do something absent minded like place a jar in a different place.

@Rohvannyn Or perhaps different jars too. One taller than the other. One with something tied to it like you mentioned. One more thing. Tell him that I admire his choice to do the cooking even though he cannot see the ingredients. That's something very few of us can handle. Best of luck!

@Hatley We have a 25 pound bag of oats. I put a half cup of it in my weekly bread making.

@Hatley I grew up eating sweet milky cereal though it was cold like Cheerios so I guess I got used to it.

lol @sallypup that was not good at all. I have put salt in my coffee when things get all mixed up.

@RasmaSandra Your comment brings to mind something that I did when I first knew my hubby- we were not hitched then. I had a goofy sense of humor and sometimes it came out mean. I salted his coffee. I admit it and yes, it was not nice. At the time I laughed but really am very lucky he married me anyway.

My girlfriend made her boyfriend a homemade cherry pie last week. She was bragging how she can make the best pie ever and normally she can. When he bit in, he choked, grabbed his coffee and chugged even though it was hot. I took a taste and it was loaded with salt. She mistook her salt for the sugar. We had a good laugh; he and I more than her.

@noni1959 Big whoopsie. I've made two sweet cherry pies in the last couple of weeks. I sprinkled on about a tablespoon in each cause of the natural sweetness. Even that much salt would have made us gag. Poor girl friend.

Oh, that sounds awful. Oatmeal is already pretty dry without extra flour. Did it turn out okay?

@supercalifredge I stopped him before he put flour on. He had poured milk so all was well- the sugar was paired with some raisins.
