A while ago , I saw this signage at the top of one of the two billiard tables at the company’s bowling lanes , when I passed by to go the ladies' comfort room.
I was intrigued , but confused . So I called the attendant on duty and asked what’s it for , since we don’t have that ever since .
He said , he made it so those 12 year old and younger ones will not be allowed to play anymore since the previous day they nearly damaged the billiard tables because they don’t know how to play them .
So , I told him to change it to 12 and below not above , or else no one will play there anymore . He agreed and we both laughed out loud .
He immediately changed it .
What can you say guys ?

Maybe they should just use the local language so there won't be any confusion ..

I suppose young children should come with their parents. What if they really damage the table?

@SIMPLYD In my country they have several rules ar places where they have billiard tables. There are also some unprinted rules: I have never seen a woman there

The one who did it actually was the Marketing assistant . In fact , he told me when i asked the next time i passed there , why it was still not corrected . He said it's correct .
So , i told him , you mean those 12 years old and above cannot play , but only those 12 and below ? Then , he pondered and laughed at their mistake .
I actually haven't seen it already .

@sofssu Yes , i wondered too who actually made it and was surprised when it's the marketing assistant who really made it . Marketing assistant is supposed to know better what to put !
Anyway , no one is perfect .
And as to those funny signs on cabs and shops . . . . there are a lot of them here in the Philippines .

While I do think kids should be able to use them, I also understand that the tables can be very expensive and there is a greater chance of them being damaged from kids vs. adults.

Even if it's 12 and below, I don't think that should be proper. At least, those who be allowed to play billards are 15 and above. Some youngsters would skip school to play billiards.

Do you think so , that it's a too young age limit . We are in a far place from those schools . Besides , we don;t allow students to play when it's school hours .
Though, when students come for their bowling lessons with their PE teacher , some play billiards and some sings videoke .

@sunrisefan You have a point there . But we have the attendant to oversee that age limit .

@SIMPLYD I think 12 is still too young. Billiard can also be considered as a sport but many are using it for gambling.

i agree with you. "age limit 12 below" will mean to some as those aged below 12 can play, and above 12 are prohibited. and don't you think UNDER and not BELOW should be the right word?

@SIMPLYD below and under are two adverbs that have the same meaning but i think there is a slight difference between the two

That was so funny! So only babies up to 12 years old can play there.

And just a minute ago , the marketing assistant was there ( he did the computer printing ) and said that it was correct . So, i told him , if that is correct , then who will play, since you limit the age to 12 and above ., those 12 and below ?
That opened his mind too and scratched his head and laughed . He changed it .
