have you learned something new over the past few days?

when I called the prime Amazon place, the lady was so nice. I asked if I had to buy the fire stick to get their streaming. she was nice enough to tell me how I could avoid the extra charge. If I had an extra HDMI cord (and I did) I could hook it to my pc and tv and stream So I gave it a try and took a photo. something new I learned. I was on FB and found someone posted about you can lay a wooden spoon across a boiling pot and it won't boil over, (I already knew that trick) so I posted about you can put a piece of soap under your sheet at the foot and not have cramps in legs at night. who knows why these tricks work. they just do. poor coco, she has hid most of 3 days. wonder why people have to blow fire works that long? when I was a kid and even up till adulthood, most did not do this but 1 day! the day it was intended for. whats wrong with people today? no matter how I work with it the photos don't load right

I didn't know about the soap or wooden spoon, so that's what I've learned new today. Thanks.

The stick trick is what I learned new today. I wonder what keeps it from boiling over?

I actually knew about the spoon over the boiling pot . . . but we use chopsticks! I don't remember where I learned that, but it was for cooking Japanese noodles in the pot which almost always boils over!! We have had fireworks like a week before - and we're still hearing them - I thought they were illegal, so I don't know why we are hearing so much of it!

maybe not in Florida they are not illegal but don't know. it seems the law is just overcome with it and don't bother any more

@much2say yes coco and I both hate it. I would not mind if she did not hide so badly

@bunnybon7 I know parts of CA it is still legal, but no way in this area. And it seems to be getting worse/longer each year.

I "don't get" much of the technology everyone seems quite comfortable with, so if I learned something about Amazon's fire sticks I'm not sure what it is yet. The other two I already knew, but it's good to be reminded.

just a piece under the sheet from a bar. I tried it and it worked . had no leg cramps when it was there. haven't had to use it for a few years though.

@boiboing must be why I don't get them these days. I do eat at least one a day when available.

@bunnybon7 I eat bananas. That's done the trick for me for several years.

That's good to know about Amazon Prime, but I don't have a long enough HDMI cord to do that with, though I do have an extra one. However, my current PC doesn't have HDMI - it's that old. I'll be getting a new one soon. I didn't know that about the soap - good to know.

I do have to move my laptop to the edge of the bed but I can't play/work on the pc, so have to make sure I don't need to and just watch tv.

@bunnybon7 I guess it would be easier to do with a laptop. I just have a desktop.

I've thought about figuring out the Amazon streaming but haven't bothered. I need to do that. What I learned yesterday is that I don't like NYC when its hot and humid.

I don't get on well in heat and humidity. that is why Florida is killing me "and my little dog to" as they say in Wizard of Oz,

Fabric softener sheets are great to clean between wedges or folds on lamp shades. Just run it through and the amount of dust you can get is amazing. Most people probably know that though. And they're also good to clean blinds.

love those tips and did not know any of them. I will have to take my daughter wooden spoon though.

I love the little things people learn. My mom got called crazy about putting a ball (i forgot what kind it was) in the washing machine to make clothes soft or something. But I think it's one of those things people don't really think about.
