Pen Strokes Lets Writers Publish Creative Writing Pieces and Earn

I was very excited when I found out that one of the sites I write for called Daily Two Cents launched a sub-site called Pen Strokes that lets people publish poetry and other creative writing, while allowing them to make some money from it by paying writers per view, with no AdSense account required. While their payout is very small ($2 per 1,000 views) I joined Pen Strokes anyway because I have a lot of poetry, lyrics and other creative writing in my portfolio that I can share with the world and being able to earn some spare change from that would be fantastic.
I published 26 posts so far. And with that many posts you'd think I'd have already reached the $5 minimum in earnings to get paid, and more than once for that matter. The reality is that I have not even made a dollar yet and I've joined the site I believe in July of 2015. That's because traffic to my posts is low, even though I share them on Google+, Pinterest, FB, and Twitter. I wonder how I can get my traffic to increase. Anyone have any ideas? Makes me wonder why another creative writing site I write for (AuthorsDen) that doesn't allow writers to earn gets my stuff lots of traffic, without much promotion on my part, while Pen Strokes does not.
If any of you write for Pen Strokes what are your experiences with the site in terms of traffic and earnings?

I have found that fiction and poetry get very few views on the Internet. If you like to write, however, you may want to try one of the other Harlow-McGaw sites. I write for their site called TheDailyVoiceNews.com and, after the first couple of months, I have made payout every single month. I write articles about the state where I live, as well as other articles related to my interests.

@DeborahDiane I hadn't heard of that particular site. I've been concentrating on my blogs lately, but you've piqued my curiosity so I'll have a look at it. I'm starting to realise how difficult it is to earn money from a blog so if it looks like my kind of site I might just give it a try.

I have published posts on DTC and WE though not for a while. And I have a few posts on Listofied and Trendzic.
It puzzles me that my poetry, lyrics and other creative writing gets hundreds and even thousands of views on AuthorsDen but yet my stuff on Pen Strokes doesn't. Maybe AuthorsDen is more established as it's been around longer. Would have been great if that site paid.

Not sure I want to write News articles and not sure if I'd be able to pull it off.... But maybe that is worth considering.

Promoting one's work is really hard unless one has a massive following on social media. (I don't.)
I've been lucky with my bonsai blog because I found a group at Reddit which shares my interest, but I haven't been able to use Reddit for anything else I write.

Hi! Oh, You and I are in the same boat. I need advice on this matter, too. If I get some good ones, I'll come by again and let you know. By the way, my name is Tim.

I was on DTC too, but had been inactive for some months now; didn't know if they removed my account.

I don't think they remove your account if you are not active.

Thank you. I have some hubs that have are poetry and they have gotten hundreds and even thousands of views. And same goes for my poetry on AuthorsDen. So, why Pen Strokes doesn't give me that I have no idea. Perhaps the site is new and not as known or established yet.
