Just for my oldest daughter though. Her younger sister decided to take a session off and not start up again until the end of August.
My daughter is starting to learn her routine for her first freestyle competition, likely the home competition in November since the only other one between now and then is in three weeks (not enough time for her to prepare). Her coach gave her a choice between learning a lower level or a higher, more challenging level. She chose the more challenging one so I'm going to have to find time to get her on the ice for extra practice time.
She did decent last night considering it was her first time on the ice in about 5 weeks. In addition to her private lessons/competition practices she had her regular lesson and was on the ice for almost two hours. She fell a couple times learning the new moves but, other than a bruise on her hip, is OK.
I do, however, need to find her a different pair of skates. Her feet apparently grew in the few weeks she had off and her current pair are getting tight. My wife and I are just going to end up renting skates for her rather than buying them because they are way too expensive for her to outgrow them every couple months.

It is. But, I consider it an investment. They are learning to challenge themselves, are staying in shape and are learning grace and composure under pressure. Plus, a lot of the skaters from our club have gotten scholarships to some top schools, something I'm hoping will happen for them too if they stick with this.

It's part of skating. She fell correctly. Sometimes you just fall quickly to the point you get a bruise.

Good idea to rent those skates. I wish her luck. I can never ice skate.
