I must admit, I was very surprised to see this young woodchuck today. There were a couple of ladies walking their dogs a short time earlier in the exact same area I found this guy just resting on the trail.
I could tell it was a...

I saw this mallard as I was on my walk at lunch today. It was taking a break so I grabbed a photo. The one thing I found I liked best about this duck is his green head looked almost purple in the light.

I've seen a few of these birds around the park lately. I think they are just passing through but are definitely beautiful birds. I caught a photo of this one as it was resting over a creek.

I was able to grab a photo of this fish (I believe it is a young bass) in one of the ponds while on my walk.
I'm not really sure why there are even fish in that pond. It's not connected to the nearby lake, at least that I'm aware...

This was a bit of a tricky capture. The grass is getting taller around the pond and, more often than not, I don't see frogs/turtles until they've seen me and are already in the water.
I did manage to sneak up on this one though.

I went for my walk at lunch today (which was really fun with all the mud) and happened to see this oriole in one of the shrubs. Unfortunately, I had to take the photo from a distance because it flew away the second I got closer...

It is very cloudy out right now, with very little sunlight getting through. And, as a result, the photos are coming out a bit on the dark side. But, you can still see the ducklings and their mom.

My kids are on their summer break as of today so, since I have much more free time in the morning before work, I'm starting to take a walk before even getting in the car to head to the office.
This walk takes me through the park...

This one looks like it is trying to hang on for dear life. But, I think it had a firm grip on the branch and was just trying to look around without being seen too. I grabbed a photo of it while I could.

Well, technically, it's a bridge (it goes over the duck pond in the park I visited this morning). But, I thought it was pretty cool these ducks were just hanging out there this morning and snapped a photo.

My oldest daughter had a figure skating competition yesterday morning. She did relatively well, finishing second in both her compulsory category and with her program as well as third in spins. However, my biggest "proud dad"...

I decided to brave the really wet trails today at lunch and went for my walk. I saw the male duck as I was coming down one of the trails and didn't even notice the female until after I started taking photos. She really blended...

This was a new one for me today. I saw this bird earlier this morning (when I stopped at the park to check on how wet the trails were) and, when I photographed it, I wasn't sure what it was. After some work identifying it, I am...

I wasn't actually looking to photograph these two. I ended up walking across them while trying to track down another bird this morning (the one that ended up being the Eastern King Bird). They didn't run or fly away so I took...

I almost didn't go for my walk today because it was a bit cold out and the trails are still pretty soggy from all the rain we got. But, I ended up deciding to go at the last second and saw these geese right away.

I don't normally name the animals I photograph but do call this particular red-winged blackbird Pretty Bird. This is because the bird is somewhat unique. Whenever I go for my walk (and this includes when I walked with my wife and...

It was storming at lunchtime today so I didn't get to take my walk. However, I did go out a little bit this morning before coming into the office. There wasn't much to see. But, this gold finch hung out long enough for me to get a...

I had an opportunity to get a photo of this robin's nest and eggs earlier today. Before anyone asks, I took great care not to disturb the nest. I kept a reasonable distance from it and even checked on the nest a little while later...

We had a lot of rain last night and, as a result, most of the trails I normally walk were under water today. I did, however, manage to get in a short walk and came across this pelican as it was fishing on one of the ponds.
I...
