My oldest daughter had a figure skating competition yesterday morning. She did relatively well, finishing second in both her compulsory category and with her program as well as third in spins. However, my biggest "proud dad"...

I didn't go for that long of a walk yesterday morning and completely skipped my lunchtime walk because I wasn't watching where I was walking, stepped in a gopher hole and rolled my ankle. I'm OK now but was pretty sore more of the...

Another turtle in the same pond. This one just stayed on the surface and was swimming around, enjoying the sun while it was out.

I've seen these flying around the ponds the last couple times I took a walk. I finally was fortunate enough to have one take a rest long enough for a photo. Considering the number of bugs they eat, I would love to have a couple of...

Well, I had planned on going for a walk over lunch today. But, I had something come up at the last second and couldn't do that.
However, I did manage to get this photo of a squirrel eating an ear of corn yesterday afternoon.

Or, at least that's the plan. I'm not sure if that will actually happen or not.
Yesterday, I took the family to the Madison area. We visited East Towne Mall so my daughters could use their Barnes and Noble gift cards then, on the...

I mowed yesterday evening and, still a little sore, I decided to keep my walk relatively short this morning and mostly hung around the observation tower at Edgewater Park.
While up there, I took a photo straight down at the train...

Went for my morning walk this morning and the park was surprisingly void of life. No herons, no ducks, etc. In fact, for most of the walk, the only thing I saw were some beautiful spider webs. At least the spiders were busy.

It has been raining on and off since I got up this morning and we're supposed to get some storms in a little while. So, instead, I'll go get gas in my car since my tank is almost empty.
Hopefully, the rain will stop by this...

Saw this rabbit while walking through the small animal tent at the fair yesterday afternoon. It was a pretty friendly rabbit and came right up to the cage to say hi, very much unlike that chicken that decided it wanted to try to...

I went for my morning walk through Edgewater Park this morning and decided to check out a pond I hadn't really spent a lot of time around. I saw this heron sitting on the far side and got a photo of it as it was getting ready to...

I saw this little guy flying around and keeping in the high grass and trees. It was hyperactive and a little hard to photograph but I did get this pic.

I saw this one hanging out on a tree branch, looking over the marsh area. I was able to get the photo without it seeing me.

I was playing a cute game of whack-a-mole (minus the whacking and mole) with this little guy. It kept peeking out from the boards of the bridge I was standing on.

Yes, I know how dangerous that could be (those trains don't slow down for anyone) and I'm sure I'd be trespassing on someone's private property at some point. But, it sure looks like it would be fun to do.

I have never read the books. I am now contemplating pulling them out. I have a question, which I may know the answer to... which did you like better: reading the books or watching the movies?
I LOVED the movies, so do you think...
