Risky eating raisins

Philippines
July 13, 2016 7:06pm CST
One of the items Dad sent to us was this 4 dozen box, None wanted to eat them fearing that it's already expired. But I tried it once and it taste good but worried that it might affect my stomach. But today, I've check it's vitamin content and surprised to see that it's got even a higher fiber content than my moringa but when I check the box, the sugar content is high too. Anyone who eats an entire box, which is just small? It's nice to discover another type of fruit that's been sitting around here. Do I need to put this in the fridge?

raisins's're packed with lots'f nutrition 'n much better fer folks than other sweets. 's fer keepin''em 'n the fridge? i shudder't the thought, lol. e'en once the raisins "dry out", they can be reconstituted somewhat with a lil warm water - 'r used'n other food dishes where their sweetness'll be 'ppreciated'n ya won't break a tooth :D

If the raisins are expired then you should throw the raisins out. If not then eat the raisins and enjoy. Have a great Thursday.

I would have a problem right now if the raisins had expired @Teep11 and it seems they do expire @just4him only after a while. this one is 2020

I have never paid attention to the expiration date on raisins. They've never gone bad, no matter how long I've had them.

@Letranknight2015 Then you have nothing to worry about. Those raisins will be gone long before then.

No, raisins don't go in the fridge. They are a good nutritious snack, unfortunately also high in sugar, but is a great source for iron as well.

I've been told to treat dried fruit like candy because the sugar (even if it is natural) is so concentrated. I know I've thrown old raisins in cookies and I'm still here . I figure if it's still in a closed bag and not that hard kind of chewy, then it's probably fine. But yah, look for the expiration date on the box first!

I see others have answered your questions. Most items have a very safe expiry date on them so I wouldn't be worried if I were eating them - as long as they taste nice and smell okay.

Raisins last for a very long time, i eat a lot of preserved fruits, raisins, prunes, dates, even the local ones like "sampaloc" or tamarind, and different kinds of Chinese "champoy". Lol, i just don't forget to drink lots of water after consuming to flush out the bad elements

Those usually come wrapped in plastic, and they often have the best by date printed on one of the sides of the boxes. Doesn't mean they go bad then, just that they're at their best before that date. They're fine as long as they're soft, for the most part. No refrigeration needed--they keep in the pantry for months.

My mom didn't believe it when I showed her the numbers on that side @yukimori so that means they're not expired and will expire after 2020 which is very long time
