So some psychopath drives a semi tractor trailer through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day, then opens fire of them before he is killed by police.
The name of the psychopath has not been revealed, but it's assumed that it was some sort of terrorist attack.
What can we do about incidents like this? I have no answer. Do you have one?
Turning Syria into a wasteland will do no good. These "people" live among us.

@TheHorse it's pretty basic as regards northern Ireland.
some want to be part of the republic of ireland and hate brit rule of the north.
some want to be part of britain and hate the republicans.
Pretty basic but that's the essence of the issue.

@Shiva49 yep...some seem in a hurry to get to the supposed afterlife
personally I'd love to help some to get there, especially the ones that want to kill kids out for a good time to celebrate their national day and see some fireworks.

It is really not a good news. We are living under a "state of emergency" giving a lot of power to the executive power and the police since last November, which is not a very good thing in a democracy, and it should have ended on July 26th. Now it will be extended for 3 months.
It is true that they are living among us. More, they are identified, but they cannot be put in jail before they start to take action : it would be against our constitution.

That few cannot find any meaning in life is beyond me.
For me, I don't mind leading many lives here to enjoy the bounty and gift of nature.
What a privilege to be part of society anywhere!
But for some life is like casting pearls before swine with due apologies to the latter! siva

all we can do is do right, be kind, preach tolerance, and act it

Your end sentence speaks volumes - because not all the people are evil and so many of the innocent live among us - However I do believe it is up to those that are innocent to enlighten the authorities of the ones that live among them that have terror ideals

@Inlemay They carry it too far...Hindus for example in this case
and

But Hindus don't get attention of the world for the kind of crimes they can commit!!!
The court was hearing a petition filed by villagers after Uttar Pradesh police refused to file an FIR in the matter in May.

It broke my heart to hear the news about what happened in Nice, France. My heart goes out to the people of France. Unfortunately, we can't just bomb our way out of this situation that has become the new norm for the world, because like you said, "they" live among us. These terrorists are already spread out around the globe, and just quietly plan out their evil to unleash on the world. I wish there was an easy solution, but there's not. We just need to be as vigilant as possible, and make sure we report anything suspicious we see taking place. It's a sad time for all of us in this world.

This was horrible news to wake up to this morning. My wife is still in bed and I know it will upset her. Her family is French-Canadian. I don't know that I know anyone in the area off hand but I've made the acquaintance of people all over the world online and in real life.

I wish I knew how things like that could be prevented. Every member of our family has spent time in France on different occasions over the past 30 years. It breaks my heart that this could be happening there. I would be very uncomfortable if one of our daughters went back there now. Of course, the same thing could happen here.

I don't think anything can be done. This is how it is now. Just my take. They do a great job using intel to stop a lot of this before it happens, but they are never going to stop everything.
