There's one hit wonders of the 80s and 70s and 60s (and even the 50s and 40s), and then there's acts who really aren't one-hit wonders, despite the fact that there's that "one big hit" that's played all the time and no other song. Here's another one of those acts.
#7: A-Ha
One of the most iconic videos of the MTV era was A-Ha's "Take On Me." The 1984 song became an international sensation, hitting #1 in numerous countries, including the U.S. And, of course, with an iconic video comes overplaying. Because "Take On Me" was such a big success most people remember it and nothing else by the Norwegian band.
And to think that they had another top 20 hit in their career. In 1985 their song "The Sun Always Shines on TV" peaked at #20 on the Billboard pop chart.
Most people didn't notice because MTV was still playing the "Take On Me" video.
Here's A-Ha's other US hit:
This was a-ha's second hit record, and the first #1 in the UK. The original version made #20 on the US charts, the highest charting since "Take On Me" was #1...

Actually, I like this song better than Take On Me. Also, you are right in that it didn't get enough air time because radio stations were still too busy playing their first song. I have heard some decent remakes of this song, and my favorite is by Susperia. Granted, there are metal band, but they stayed very true to the original song, while making it their own at the same time. You can check it out on YouTube.

My favorite A-Ha song is Cry Wolf. They are really big to this day in the UK and Germany. The song and group are 80s new wave alternative staples.

"The Sun Always Shines on TV" is the better song, as far as I'm concerned.
