First, I got the idea to write this post from Alfredo Rossi, who posted, A Movie Afternoon. While Waiting for Our Company. Many of us have been at home channel surfing, when suddenly we come across a movie that we have not seen before, but for some reason what is happening in the movie at the time catches and maintains our attention. A few years ago, I was doing just that, when I came across the movie, A Wake in Providence. The movie is about a young Italian man named Anthony from Providence, who is trying to establish an acting career in Los Angeles. While there he meets a beautiful woman name Alyssa, and after receiving a phone call from his mother telling him that his grandfather has passed away, the two of them go to Providence to attend the wake. A Wake in Providence was collaboratively written by Billy Van Sandt, who also plays Anthony’s cousin, Jane Fillmore, Mike Pagano, and Vincent Pagano. The movie has an ensemble cast, and stars Vincent and Mike Pagano, Victoria Rowell, best known from the Young And the Restless, and Diagnosis Murder, and Adrian Barbeau, best known for her TV role in Maud, and the movies Escape from New York, Swamp Thing, and The Fog. The movie portrays the initial shock of Anthony’s family upon learning that he is in a relationship with African-American woman, and the events that take place afterwards. In my opinion, A Wake in Providence is very funny, well-written, and is one of those movies that one can sit back and enjoy to forget about life for a little bit, and then afterwards, go about one’s business. For anyone who has not seen this movie, a highly recommend it. One can read about the movie on IMDb and watch the trailer at 2766/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt .
