Do you still have VHS tapes and a VCR?

I read an article today saying that the last company that still manufactures VCRs will be stopping production this year. It's amazing to think that brand new VCRs were still being produced because I honestly don't think there are any new VHS tapes coming out these days! Do you still have VHS tapes and/or a VCR? We still do because we have quite the collection of Disney VHS tapes.

Hi Bellatricks. I have a VCR and VHS tapes. They bring back wonderful memories, and I will have them for life - the memories and the VCR/VHS tapes.

Yeah! You shouldn't get rid of them if you enjoy them.

I still have loads of VHS tapes, and while DVR's, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs are all the rage right now, I still prefer VHS. I do have a VCR/DVD combo, but the DVD part doesn't work anymore. I still watch many things that I have on videotape such as my favorite episodes of Castle, NCIS, The Berenstein Bears, and a videotape with the movies Evil under the Sun, the Three Musketeers, and Thor. By any chance, do you know if and when they will stop manufacturing videotapes? I'd like to know this because I do not have a DVD that records, and my DVR is getting full of movies that I want to keep, and I'm running out of storage space.

I read an article saying they were planning on stopping this year but there was no specific date mentioned. I must say I remember how easy it was to record with VHS tapes. The same thing went for cassette tapes. It's amazing how we can not simply just push record these days on things but I guess that's why DVRs exist and that's why cable companies push those on people. The thing is you can't keep those recordings forever if you have a DVR on the VHS you can.

Yes I have both. I buy VHS tapes at yard sales and thrift shops.

I no longer have any VHS tapes and haven't had a VCR for years. I've gone online/digital...haven't even got DVD or blu ray or whatever it is called. If I want to see something I'll find it on the net....often before it's shown on UK tv.

I am trying to switch to digital. I've been buying all my new movies on Amazon and they are all linked to my account instead of buying DVDs/Blu-rays.

We used to have a bunch of them until a few years ago when I threw them all away. There was a lot of Disney ones. They were just taking up space.

I also had thought that they had stopped manufacturing.. Nice to know I was wrong. Many childhood memories are with the VHS tapes .. our children would not even know that these existed !!
