I'm new to using polymer clay and would like to get into selling it. Is anyone else using it and how well is your craft recieve? I am unsure of what sells and what doesn't and would like a general idea of what direction to go in.

I think it really has a lot to do with what you're passionate about making. If you don't enjoy making it, then it will show in your work. Figure out what you really love making. Jewelry, canes, figures, "paintings", the list goes on. From there, start with one or two designs to begin with. Things sell pretty well on Ebay.com and also on etsy.com. Another site for some great ideas and tutorials belongs to a friend of mine. www.norajean.com I personally don't get into the assembly line type of claying, but for some people, it's a lot of fun. I like to create little figures/dolls that are One of a Kind. There are scads of those type of things selling on ebay everyday. But there are also lots of jewelry and other things selling too, so it still boils down to making what you love! Good luck!

I have found my beads are very well recieved. Popel like the fact that I make only a small number of a style. They like the one of a kind quality that it gives their pieces.

I too have just started working with clays. I have started a new line for my website called Lil Sweet Tots (already copyrighted my name) that are figurines. I started another discussion on this subject and it has a pic of one of my infinished projects on it. I love working with clays. I also do ceramics which I love. I do all kinds of crafts. I sell my crafts on my website (www.sweetdesigninc.com) and I plan to do some craft fairs next year.

Polymer clay is a lot of fun. You can make all kinds of things with it, some ideas are handmade beads, jewlery, statues, etc. What sort of things are you going to make?

I've never used it myself, but I've seen Carol Duvall feature it on her craft show many times. According to her, polymer clay items sell well, especially if you can come up with something really novel to make. You might check out her show in hgtv.com and see some of the projects that people have done on her show.

I have used her poly covered pens and made my own style and they sell very well. People like them for little gifts for teachers and such. I also found pen kits with 24 karat gold plate and they sell like hot cakes for me.

What type of Polymer are you using? Some are more fragile then others. As to your question I have made ornaments that sold pretty good at a Church bazaar. I make statues and music boxes as well. I have a book that shows all types of things including a lamp made out of polymer clay. It was beautiful. I will look up the titles of my book and post again. In One it has a chart about the different types of polymer clays and how each works.

Soory I haven't responded. Very busy. I use scupley products. I have nerve damage in my arms and scupley is the easiest for me to condition with little pain, my pasta machine is a great help also. I have really taken off with my beads and sculpey also gives me better control of blending and it doesn't get so soft that the beads are hard to pierce.
