The Sermon About Yolks For The Folks...

I went to church this morning like I do every Sunday and played the organ. The visiting minister is a local man who has preached before and though the numbers were up where the congregation is concerned, I had forgotten how long his sermons can be.
The theme of his sermon was “the yoke and the burden of the human soul.” Naturally all I could think about were ways to cook eggs as I love eggs.
There were two prayers in the middle of the sermon but they were quite long. I noted from the mirror on the top of the organ that half of the congregation fell asleep, at times opening half an eye whenever the roof of the church rattled with the high winds.
I was hoping that the sermon would deliver some relevance to news events this week; the terrible fires in France, not to mention the poor people of Nice. Nope. No such conversation and yet the topic of yolks continued; the sermon wasn’t engaging enough to keep everyone awake and attentive. By now I was thinking what kind of egg quiche pie to make...
Usually I print out a list of the hymns and the overall service sent over from the minister. This week I experimented with taking a photo of the document as my printer tells me I am running low on black ink. I ended up taking a screen shot of the e-document with my iPod 5G.
Usually church services take half an hour to 40 minutes but today’s service went on for a whole hour and ten minutes. The sermon also went on for 25 minutes. I’m glad I had my Apple iPod with me though as it shows the time! I intend to take screen shots in the future to save on print ink. I really don’t know why I didn’t think of this before! I think I will be making an omelette tonight! (c)Nar2/crystalvisions2016.

That was quite an omelet-ful of disservice of fluff. Not being disrespectful. But we do have several pulpit preachers who are sincerely boring.
Our pastor this morning was really good in delivering his message. My husband and I were clasping each other's hand as we sat, listening. We could relate deeply.

Im deeply spiritual but not deeply religious and I believe in God. If I had to give up my Sunday mornings playing organ, I know I would be happy to do so. My late mum taught R.E as well as Music at school but she eventually inspired me to watch Joyce Meyer. I could watch her all day on TV; she knows how to engage people when it comes to sermons and public presentations. If only some ministers could take a leaf from her books.
