Ants are following me home!
At my boyfriend's place (he lives in a two story home) - in the kitchen, there are some ants scattered here/there and some upstairs in the restroom. I found a trail in the kitchen, they were coming in from a small crack. I sprayed that area, but they still show scattered around. Upstairs, I found no trail so it is so mysterious!
Then, I travel about two miles home to my parents, ants are here too! We live in a one story home and in the kitchen and the restroom there are ants.
I just don't get it! This has been on-going for the past week?
- Superstition -
My mom has mentioned some of her superstitions before that ants are a sign of wealth. When I research this superstition it's said this is a Philippines superstition.
On the bright side, it was pay day today on myLot!

In Philippine superstitious beliefs, it's only the black ants that's lucky of course I do not beleve this since I'm Christian, but is it black?

@louievill I took long vacations with a net break.
I see : they are a sign of wealth, because their presence means that there are a lot of fruits in the house. We definitely cannot have this superstition : I think that the only stinging ant species here is a large black ant living in forests.

@topffer black ants are considered lucky because they are the type that don't bite, they move fast and are found mostly on sweet fruits. I'm not religious, i just read the bible, oh nice to see you, have not seen you for quite sometime.

Ha-ha. I know right? :)
I hate ants! I feel them bitting my feet, too. Or I'll feel them crawling on me, but they're not! I have been killing them with tape.

I haven't tried it yet but my mom was recently telling me that food-grade diatomaceous earth (DE) will get rid of ants.
I think a few mylotters have mentioned it before, as well.

@Genipher Oh, I have not tried that before.
We just spray or do the natural way just kill them and they'll retreat. But we just have a few here/there just strolling in!!

I don't like them when they get in the kitchen. We haven't had any bugs since the exterminator was here. Nice Philippine superstition.

Yes it's our superstitious belief, however not red ants. For ants to be considered a sign of wealth it should be black ants. Black ants in the house bring prosperity while red ants, bad luck!

Maybe they'll go away now that you've been paid on mylot?
One can only hope. I am glad I am not the only one experiencing this in the bathroom as well. This is the first time I've ever seen them in the bathroom though.

I hope so!
They've been on-going here/there throughout the week. It's not a ridiculous trail, just scattered. My boyfriend's had one trail but I killed it and it wasn't a long trail either. They just stroll in and see if there is anything (crumbs, food) but there isn't so they leave.
Yep, at both places (his / my parents) same trouble kitchen + bathrooms.

@infatuatedbby We just found some ants in a cake that was baked! The cake was in the stove! A NEW STOVE. I don't understand it but they'll get where they can. We see the occasional ant on the counter but keep things as tidy as possible to keep them from straying!

@infatuatedbby Oh, whoops... No they weren't baked in. I realize I made it seem that way. Apparently someone baked a cake and left in the oven to keep the ants away. They somehow crawled in and made it their new home.

I think these are harmless ants! Just regular ants. It's just here and there, no more than 20 scattered around, but it's annoying. Seems like when it's hot, they come in.

You have signs of wealth all around you!
My friend who has those kitchen ant trail problems swears up and down that they like meat. I always thought they were attracted to sugar, but she says "her" ants go straight to meat if she leaves it on her counter. ???
In any case, I hope those ants go away - maybe they're out because it's hot?
