The story of my daughter is not mine to tell, but the story of the mother of my daughter is My story to tell.
"Independence is fun, especially when there's a beloved waiting in the wings, and freedom makes you a more interesting person. Having separate lives brings fresh air into a relationship." ~ Deborah Moggach
Its been a few months now and she has found someone new . . . and for that I am very please, however I find myself waiting in the wings with an anticipation of worry, a concern that something could go wrong, hopefully not this time.
Thats the story of a mother . . . .
we wait, we pray, we pick up the pieces,
we pray some more;
we love, we cry,
we pray a little louder;
we wish, we pretend,
we silently pray;
we care and hope every single day
but never do we stop praying.
Its a transitional period for all in the family - letting go of someone we love and was hurt, and the acceptance that she knows what she is doing.
Taking a chance on Love . . . again.
"I believe the key to happiness is: someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to." ~ Elvis Presley

That goes for dads too, especially those like me who raised a daughter alone from her age of six.

I like what Elvis said but it is too bad that he ruined his life.

Your daughter is gorgeous. Being a mother is the hardest thing ever. The concerns never end no matter how old our children are

I don't know what it's like to be a mom but I know what it's like to love. As a daughter myself I love my mom for all the help and advice she gives me. She has seen me from the audience, has given me advice that most of the time I ignored. But now that I am older I cherish all the wisdom she has bestowed upon me all these years of my life. She may be in the wings waiting and cheering me on, but she lives her own life while happily watching my crazy self. Mothers want the best for their kids but sometimes they forget that they are their own person too. They have to fall, scrape that knee, get back up and battle at it again. For without those scars they can't learn those too important lessons in life. Let them make those mistakes, learn from them, give advice then back off and let them go again for a new round and see what they will find about themselves along the way.

I am glad to hear that she is taking a chance of love even though she has been hurt. As parents we only want what is best for our children. It is hard to watch them hurting and we can't take that pain away. She is a beautiful young lady. My daughter went through a rough time a few years ago and she was scared to love again. She had to heart broken a few times. She got to the point where she decided she would rather be alone the rest of her life rather then put her heart out there again. Well a couple of months ago she met a man who changed her mind. They are so good together and she is happier then I have seen her in such a long time. He is a good man. It is so nice to see her smile again but as a mom I do worry that something could go wrong. I wish your daughter all the best.
