Paris in Autumn

I have been back from my Cruise through Indonesia for 3 weeks now. I had two weeks with the flu in the first week and the last two weeks planning my next getaway. This my excuse for not being around My Lot so often. A friend invited me to go with her on a trip through the south of France into Spain. It will be a whirlwind trip but she and I have been promising ourselves that we would go someday, now that day is suddenly upon me. We leave in 3 weeks and I don’t feel at all prepared. We arrive in Paris on 9/11 and from there we drive to Tours and other environs. My friend has hired a car which scares me a little, she drives in a ‘nonchalant’ manner which is fine at home but in Paris we will be driving on the opposite side of the road . I just keep telling myself she has driven in France once before and there weren't any problems that I know of. Hopefully we make it ok, I have the job of reading the map which is hilarious what if it is all in French and checking out the history of the place. Have you been to France recently and do you have any tips for me?

Sorry that you had the flu after your cruise - was the cruise good? That's great that you are off again so soon - you only live once! I haven't driven in Paris for 40 years, but all I can say is that I hope the French standard of driving has improved since those days!

@jaboUK Hi Janet, the cruise was ok, there were a couple of things that were disappointing. It was all an experience tho,

I haven't been to France EVER. That's good you get to do so much traveling. I should ask my friend, who travels constantly, if SHE has tips for you. Good luck with your friend's driving, lol.

@glenniah Autumn is definitely the time to visit Paris, and don't worry, the French attitude to driving is most nonchalant!! I lived in Paris for a year 85/86 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd had any money!

I have been to France a number of times but mainly Paris and I have never driven there. My only advice is to attempt speaking French no matter how bad rather English right off the bat. I have found the French appreciate the effort and switch to English.
