The death of Willy Wonka

I just heard the news that actor Gene Wilder has died aged 83. Of course, he was the star of many films but I will always remember him as Willy Wonka in the film version of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Yes, there was a visually stunning remake in recent years starring Johnny Depp, but for me, Wilder was a brilliant Willy Wonka, really capturing the essence of the magical chocolate factory owner who filled Charlie with such awe. What other films do you remember Gene Wilder for?

See No Evil, Hear No Evil. Blazing Saddles. Sad day - a very accomplished actor has gone.

I really do love "Willie Wonka". It's one of my favorite movies. Another one is "Young Frankenstein". Oh my gosh, that movie makes me laugh out loud! I'll remember Gene Wilder for those and for so many other things he's done through the years. He will definitely be missed.

The big thing we think of when we recall Gene Wilder is that he was married to Gilda Radner. She was a funny woman and it is sad they did not have a longer life together.

I only remember him as being in Willy Wonka. I always like the original movie version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
