Labor Day is coming up and I for some reason I found this Memorial Day memory and got them confused. Silly me. This was posted on Bubbles May 2014:
My early childhood was mostly spent at my grandparent's home. On Memorial Day I would help my grandmother prepare bouquets of flowers for the many vets, relatives and people she has known throughout the years. My uncle Fred would drive her to the grave yards all over the area.
Their poppies, mums, carnations, syringa, roses, chrysanthemums, daisies, and probably more I can't recall right now. Grandma would take juice cans and cover them with foil and put the flowers in these. Then all these cans, extra water and other stuff were put in the back of my uncle's truck and off we'd go. Three graveyards here in Boise, then to Nyssa, Caldwell, Homedale and all the little towns around here. Grandmother knew vets who had passed, family members I may have never met, even a naturopathic doctor my grandmother knew from years before. All these were remembered with a bouquet on Memorial Day.
I hope you all have a safe and fun Memorial Day.

I get holidays confused all the time. it is the times we live in I think. my aunt was the one that always did that on memorial day with taking flowers etc, to all the grave sites of so many people we knew and loved. the family knew they would see her there every time. now that she is gone, I just wonder who is doing it for her.

That's like me. I got Labor Day and Memorial Day mixed up. I think that is cool that families have these people that at least do this while they are alive.
