If you have not seen me around yesterday, it's because I had a difficult start of the month. When I and opened a web page, the Avast antivirus blocked that page, warning about a virus, that it fixed. I opened a new tab, but I received the same message, surely something was wrong. I unplugged the LAN cable, to avoid to contaminate the others computer in the house. I spend the whole morning scanning for viruses and cleaning my computer. Early in the afternoon, I went out for my scheduled cleaning teeth session. Back home, I was ready to open myLot, when I heard a loud noise coming from the main road near our home. I hear more noises, so I went out to check. All my neighbors were already there. Someone, driving a SUV had hit a wild boar, that was lying dead on the asphalt. Someone called the police. They came with the rangers and the local vet. It took about one hour to remove the animal and clean the road, and finally everything was back to normal. How did your month start? I hope better than mine.

I'm glad that you are savvy enough to know what to do when you have computer problems - I wouldn't have a clue. September certainly started badly for that boar I'm feeling a bit bereft as my daughter has just returned to her home in Thailand after spending the summer here

It is so longtime that I use computers that I know what to do and when I do not know, my husband knows. You are right it was not a good start for the poor boar and it is not for all the boars, because this is the season they are killed to make sausages and salami. I am sorry that your daughter is back to Thailand, I am sure you miss her.

@responsiveme Yes she was here for 4 months - I'm not sorry that she's gone, it's her life and I want her to be happy. I'm just a bit sad for myself, but she'll be back again next year.

if this incident happens in a village in China, the locals will take choppers and chop pieces of the wild boar for dinner. They probably will have a bonfire, and have a village party to cook the wild boar.

@LadyDuck Wow, I wonder if they purposely want to kill the boar and get free meat for a whole month!

This was what the two guys in the SUV wanted to do, get the boar and forget about the accident. My neighbor, who is a policeman, was there and he called his colleagues. I suppose the driver has been fined.

@scheng1 This is something one of my neighbor thought, but looking at the damages that their car got I believe it was cheaper to buy the meat.

I hope all is ok with your computer . . . it irks me to get those messages but thank goodness for antivirus!! And poor wild boar - oh gosh he must have been struck hard - that must've been quite a scene!! Yesterday was a busy, busy day - but not a terrible one. It was so busy that I had forgotten it was the start of a new month !

@LadyDuck You remind me I need to do some computer scanning and cleaning too! We don't have big animals like that here - I cannot even imagine ever seeing a boar in our streets. I assume they are quite sturdy creatures . . . I hear deer can do some big damage to cars, so I don't doubt big boars would do the same.

@much2say We also have deer, they are not as heavy as the boars, but they can also make a great damage to a car.

I hate when I see that my computer is attacked, thanks to Avast that it's a great antivirus. I felt very sorry for the poor boar, those stupid guy was speeding too much, the scene was not pleasant, but his car was a mess. It will cost a lot to repair the car and I am sure he also got a high tickets from the police.

Past three days have been hectic and mostly unproductive for us. We have been looking out for a place to stay and you know how difficult it can get finding one which suits your needs and budgets. We do hope to find one soon. And then it will be packing and relocating, getting the phone, internet and other stuff transferred to the new location.

My month is not great either and I do hope all gets better. By the way wild boars pretty much roam everywhere. They are some of the truest smart animals. Show the world respect and the world feeds you.

We have many wild boars roaming on the hills around our village. They usually only come down in winter when there is noting to eat in the woods. They can do a lot of damages in the gardens, it is the reason why the municipality have asked to everybody to put fences.

The babies are cute, the big males can be very aggressive and dangerous. Anyway the driver was fined because he was overspeeding. Those young people do not pay attention, it would have been a kid instead of an animal.

@LadyDuck I have heard that the adults can be aggressive, especially when they have babies. If the driver was speeding, he definitely should have been fined. I agree that it could have easily been a child running in the street.

In my opinion the virus is something that tried to hide in the browser add-on. Looking at the files that were fixed/deleted most of them were .js, so I suppose java scripts ready to harm the computer. It's the first time in years that I almost get a virus.

Our closest neighbor is a policeman, so he stopped the car and called the police. It is illegal here to kill a boar and dispose of the animal. People eat wild boars meat also here in Switzerland. The wild boar festival in our village is tomorrow.

@Jessicalynnt Even if you kill a boar and report, you cannot take it, they have to be tested by the vet, because we had the big Chernobyl problem many years ago in Europe and some animals still show traces of radioactivity, especially boars and deer. It could be very dangerous to take the animal and eat the meat.

@LadyDuck if one hits an animal and reports it, they can often have special permission to have the meat, saves on cleanup and makes use of something rather than wasting it. but one isnt to go out and try to run over animals to get that permission lol

bless yer heart, those viruses 'll sure ruin yer day! i'm glad that'cha got't all sorted out. don't reckon i knew there'd be wild boars out where ya live?? i hope nobody 'twas injured, i hear hittin' 'em 'tis like hittin' a brick wall. 'f course, the critter obviously didn't fare well neither. i'm impressed they removed 't 'n cleaned the road. such doesn't occur'n these parts oft - they might remove the animal, but do nothin' to tidy 'f the 'scene'.

The virus gave me a headache, I am glad that my computer is protected, but I have spent several hours scanning the whole computer to be sure I have cleaned every entry. There are plenty of wild boars here in Switzerland, people eat the meat and they also make sausages and salami. The two guys in the car were not injured, the car was and they were also fined because they were overspeeding. Here they are quick to clean the roads after an accident.

'tis most refreshin' to hear they clean the roads there. such'd really be nice here.

We have plenty of wild boars here and the next Sunday there even is the wild boar festival in front of the Town Hall. They offer boar stew with polenta and wild boar salami and sausages. They have read meats, but the taste is more or less the same as pig, but more lean meat.

Yes those in the photo are female wild boars with their piglets. The males are bigger and have very long teeth. The boar crossed the road while the SUV was coming, the driver had no time to stop, but he was fined anyway because he was speeding too fast. I am sorry you also had a hard first day of September.

I had trouble when I changed to Avira. They blocked myLot. I knew it was a safe spot because I had been on here a while already. I had to declare it as an exception or something. Don't remember exactly what. I went through the same thing with Avast. I started the month in the middle of a hurricane, so it can only get better from here. Right?

I have cleaned the computer and it seems that there are no more traces of the virus. Usually the wild boars stay in the mountain and they come down only in winter, when they have little to eat. I do not know how this one was here. I wonder if it escaped from an enclosure, because tomorrow there is a wild boar festival in the village.
