Who wants to have kittens? Well, my mousey cat is pregnant. I had noticed this since yesterday. She has bulging tummy lately. I thought she was just full of eating her meals on a daily basis. I am not also aware of her partner. It would be a surprise once she gives birth soon. A catch question is, how can I handle kittens in the household? I was thinking to give some of her babies to friends. What do you think? Image Credit: Shavkat

8 weeks is the soonest to give away the kittens @Shavkat ; they should be weened by then. A mother can get pregnant again after 67 days; so as soon as the babies are weened, you need to get her fixed, otherwise if she has any boy kittens, they will get her pregnant when they are 5 months old.

I never thought they can be such active in reproduction. I also wondered why she got pregnant that fast. It was just a few months that Rose staying in the resident.

@enlightenedpsych2 Yuppers. As soon as the feline goes into heat, the sons or brothers become the boyfriends.

You have to keep the babies for a few weeks, they cannot live without their mom in the first weeks of their life.

I may get some disagreements here, but kittens are much better than puppies. Before anyone decides to argue with me, have you ever seen the birth of a pack of Siberian Huskies! lol Anyway congrats, you are a father in some sorts.

Actually, I didn't expected to have more cats in the house. The family planned to have only one cat.

Have them neutered next time, of course let them grow and give it to future cat owners.

I didn't anticipate that. Because there are no other cats around. I had wondered where did she find her lover.

Once the babies are grown a bit you might be able to give some away. The trouble is it won't be too long and she'll probably be pregnant again.

That's the reason why I need to consult a vet.

@Shavkat Having a female cat sterilised will cost more than having a male cat done. I think sometimes you can give them tablets.

tell your friends about it now so you'll have an idea if there will be takers. then ask around where you can have your cat desexed/spayed/neutered if you don't want her to get pregnant again.

That's a good idea to give the kittens to friends. I have two cats and they're about all I can handle, so I'd have to do that too.

I don't like cats at home. Though they are cute and smart, still I don't like the smell of their poop.
