There are many mixed opinions on the subject on having cellphones especially teenage boys. What can be the impact of mobile phones on such children. It is known that smartphones have many features apart from generic voice calling feature but those features are used in number of ways. Young crowd uses Whatsapp , facebook and capture videos with the asset and can barely abstain themselves a day of their inevitable essential. Share your opinions...

If its really necessary....I mean so that parents can contact the juvenile and vice-versa. Otherwise not. That's my opinion.

Once a teen is driving, I think a cell phone is a great idea. Nowadays, parents have so much control over what kids can do on them, you can't go wrong (other than the risk of texting and driving). As far as kids under driving age, it can be very helpful when they are having sleepovers, sport practices, divorced parents, etc. There are a lot of negatives as well though, but you can give a kid a phone without it being a smart phone.

@Kortneyls While I was in school , the cellphones were never innovated and were not popular. Later in my college I found smartphones were used by few people but internet was expensive deal . As of now , I think collegian should have a smartphone.

Mobile phones were not existing when I was a teen, but we have to adapt with our times. Parents are offering phones to their kids to be able to contact them at any moment, so they should accept that their children use their phones to socialize. Like you say at the end of your discussion it is an "inevitable essential" today. There are perhaps some limits to fix : I have seen toddlers with phones, and I asked myself if we should not fix an age limit because of phone radiations, and because I am not sure a toddler needs really a phone.

@topffer parents would want their kids to engage themselves in some activity so the kids would not be difficult to handle

In my opinion, I think it is not good to give them mobile phones. It affects their study habits.
