Many humans love to eat nuts. If we have a dog then the dog will quickly appear at our side while we're eating nuts. They want some, too. But nuts are not good for a dog's digestive system. For the sake of our dog's health it's imperative that we resist their begging eyes and not give them any nuts. While most nuts are not healthy food for dogs, there is one nut that is actually poisonous to dogs. That nut is the Macadamia nut. Macadamia nuts contain a compound that is very toxic to dogs that affects their skeletal muscles and can cause tremors and even temporary paralysis. So please don't ever feed your dog Macadamia nuts! My first thought was, "Why on earth would you waste delicious, expensive Macadamia nuts on your dog?!"

It's so simple really, dogs are carnivores, carnivores eat meat and once in a while they will eat cantaloup or pumpkin ..... not all dogs stray from meat if given a choice.

My late doggie used to love watermelon. She ate it all; the fruit, the seeds and the rind.

Pumpkin is great for dogs, My dog would eat any nut she could get her teeth on almonds are her favorite and he get one or two every once in a great while. she loves peanuts to but is allergic to them and he fur falls out when she eats anything with peanut butter in it. Good thing Im to cheap to share the macadamias or Im sure she would be eating those too and that would not be good. Now that has me thinking if its not good for dogs I bet they are not to healthy for us eaither

Grapes and raisins too, bad for dogs and cats. Keep them for people! Oh, and chocolate is very bad for both dogs and cats!

There are certain foods that are deadly for dogs, such as chocolate. It is my first time to know that they can not eat macadamia nuts, too. Thanks for your suggestion. We may be ignorant to make the mistakes.

I love the Burmese, they are beautiful dogs. As for the Macadamia nuts, I knew this and when my husband accidentally dropped a bag and they fell on the floor, he unknowingly allowed my dogs to eat them. Fortunately my dogs are not small and it would take a lot of nuts to harm them. But needless to say, I warned my husband about it.

We never allow our dog 'people food'. She never begs, but sure does get excited when it's time for her evening treat.
