Bad News: I Have a Cataract

Lately, I noticed my vision has suddenly turned blurry on broad daylight. When staring at anything bright or surrounded with lights, my vision turns foggy. I knew those were signs of cataract so I consulted an ophthalmologist then went to another one for second opinion The findings are the same: I have a second stage nuclear cataract. Both doctors said it is not an urgent case. It depends on me whether I want it removed at this stage or wait furthermore. I don't want to reach the advance stage before having it removed. So, I am now on the process of inquiring and fixing things for my surgery. Cataract removal is a minor and quick surgery so I have no worries regarding this. The only thing that makes me a bit sad is I will surely be out of the cyber world for quite sometime. But meanwhile, while surgery has not taken place yet I will try to visit this site as much as I can. I hope your visions are all good and doing fine Enjoy your weekend every one! God bless.

I am sorry for that, but once the cataract surgery will be performed you will see clear again. For the moment my view is fine.

Thanks but this kind of cataract goes with aging. I am not getting younger so i expect to have this as this runs in my family. Eating moringa is good for you, keep doing so.

@Letranknight2015 Oh dear, i am not young anymore but modesty aside my friends could not believe my age because I look younger they say, well my secret is eating vegetables especially moringga, no red meat and lots of exercise.

Sorry to hear this, but once you've had the surgery you should be good as new. My husband had it done and now he sees better than me. Good luck.

Do you find it glaring when there is light ? Auntie finds it glaring when there is light . Well she said that in the US it was discovered that she has a cataract . I think i should also tell her to go to the eye center so she can have it checked while it's still on its early stage then . Good luck my dear on your operation if ever you will have it already .

Yes, there is increased glaring when there is sunlight and light, the more I find it hard to see clearly, it makes my vision foggy.. The doctor said it is not an urgent case yet and it is up for me to set the schedule of surgery.

My Mom's cataract was removed thru laser and many of my friends have that kind of operation. I hope you choose that kind of removal. God bless and take care.

I have cataracts in both eyes @salonga but until the insurance company says that I'm blind enough, I can't have the surgeries unless I pay for them out of my own pocket.

Maybe your cataracts are only at edge of the lens unlike mine which are at the center of the lens so I can't wait anymore as they bother me a lot. My insurance will pay the surgery but not the lens so I am paying for them with my own money.

@salonga I also have what are called 'floaters'; string-like things that move in the pupil. It's creepy.

I have cataracts too. I need to make an appointment with my doctor to find out if they are bad enough to get them taken off. I do need new glasses and don't want to do that until they are gone. I will make an apt this next week and find out. My husband had them taken off a few years ago and once he had new glasses all was fine and dandy. Good luck with your surgery and enjoy seeing better soon.

If it is not a nuclear cataract it won't be bothersome during early stage. Mine is nuclear cataract which means the cataract grew at the middle of my lens so it makes my vision foggy even at early stage. I hope you get to see your doctor soon.

@salonga Good luck with your surgery. I have no idea what kind I have I just know it makes it hard to read, even with my glasses.
