Karvachauth is very important festival of india for couples. On this day women fasts for the well being of their husbands....some hubbies also do. It is regarded as expression of love and carries religious importance. Women perform some rituals. At night, they adore themselves and waits for moon to perform the last ritual. It is a festival of love, care and fun. Hope this karvachauth will fill your lives with happiness and excitement.Happy karvachauth. Enjoy the festival.

I have not heard about this festival though there are many Indians in my country. It is really a lovely festival. Thanks for sharing this. The tattoo in the picture looks really beautiful. Is that called Henna tattoo? I have seen many of them here, but this is really beautiful!

are those permanent tattoos on the hands? i have seen them on tv and such on Indian womens hands before. are they usually to tell about religion

They have nothing to do with religion. These aren't permanent.... Fades away within few days.

In the movies this is seen as an act of selfless love and sacrifice. The wife prays for the longevity of her husband. I have always thought this to be so profound in a relationship. If only people could see the commitment behind this act. Happy Kavachauth to you to.

@mavlana I do...this is part of my culture and heritage. We do not practice this in Trinidad, but the power of prayer and sacrifice can change and influence a person's relationship. I would love to be in a relationship with a person who was willing to do this for me! It s no longer a ritual when it becomes meaningful.
