Ebooks vs Paperbacks

This is one of the biggest debates in the literary world. Which is better: ebooks or paperbacks?
Both of them have their pros and cons. Ebooks tend to cost less and not take up much room, yet reading a story on the screen could hurt your eyes.
As for paperbacks, they cost more and take up more room in your house, yet it may be easier on the eyes to read them.
I love both of them, my ereader and bookcase are filled with lots of books. Even though I like ebooks, I have a slight preference to paperbacks.
What do you prefer? Ebooks or paperbacks?

I am all about holding the real book in my hands. I entered a contest recently for a book or books and I asked the author whether the prize was for ebook or real book because I don't want an ebook. I read one on my computer once (I don't have an e-reader) and didn't really like it. I suppose if I had an e-reader I would use it but I got a lot of books in my house that I have to get read, so I better not win one.

@dramagirl26 I've been trying to stay away from sales and just keep trying to win them online. However, my sister gave me a gift card for Indigo for my birthday so it looks like I get to do some shopping. But, they do sell other stuff besides books so we'll see.

@patgalca I have lots of paperbacks and hardcovers at home. I've been stocking up on them when I go to bookstores and winning them in auctions.

@patgalca I've never went to Indigo, but I've heard it's a good site. I'll have to check it out.

agree... I love them both, but book is better I think..
and it's solid too. Sometimes I forget that I have lots of interesting e-books and I never read them..

@ms1864 A lot of people do prefer physical copies and I can't blame them. Even though ebooks are taking over, I think paperbacks and hardcovers are still popular.

I prefer the 'real' books. Though I have stopped buying. Developing a phobia for reading, isn't that strange?

@hora-fugit I've never heard of a phobia of reading, but I'm sure it exists.

I agree on this before I kindle fire I was reading paper books I had a ton of them I sold some to get more and donated the rest to my local library. I love reading on my kindle if I was not able to get books for it I would go back to paper books.

I still prefer paperbacks. I love the smell when you leaf through the pages of the book .

Real books. You forget the cost of the device to read an ebook. Far easier to hold a real book in hand than device. Drop a book and it gets dented. Drop a device and its broken. No one will grab a book and run. What you read an ebook on is something a thief will take.

@JohnRoberts You make a good point. Ereaders are expensive and if you break them, it's hard to replace.

Of course that I choose are paperbooks. However, owning a given book and read it on paper is much more satisfying and enjoyable. Especially if a favorite book.
But recently I started reading more eBooks because it's comfortable.
