I was feeling numbness in my left arm and chin so I went up to the ER. When I got there my blood pressure was 213/110. They rushed me right to the trauma unit and hooked me up to all these monitors. They did blood work and a urine sample. They put on a nitroglycerin patch and gave me blood pressure meds. Within 2 hours my pressure was back down to normal. All my blood work and urine came back good so they had no other concerns. So I got my prescription for my blood pressure meds and they told me to monitor it. I don't have a family physician so I will have to go to the walk in clinic regularly to have it checked. I feel so much better now then I did went I went there. I got quite a scare because I thought I maybe having a stroke or a heart attack. I am glad I went when I did. Anyway back home, relaxing and going to catch up on here for a bit before I go to bed.

@Happy2BeMe Sometimes doctors have to make adjustments on the milligram amounts.

You need to be careful about things like that. Should you not get a family doctor so you can at least keep your prescription filled?

There are a shortage of doctors in this area. I am on a waiting list for one and have been for quite some time. I had a family doctor who passed away from ALS at a young age. Have not had a doctor since.

Glad to know that you are fine.
That was quite a scare!
Your blood pressure was off the charts - 213/110! I guess you now have to take medication for that plus look after your diet and alter your lifestyle.

Yes I have to take medsome which I was already taking but they upped the dosage. Hugh blood pressure runs in my family. Stress is a bug thing for me. The doctor told me to try and manage my stress better which can be difficult for me.

It was. I never go to the emergency unless it is of great concern and today I was quite concerned about how I was feeling. I knew it wasn't right and I know many people who have had strokes and I was scared it was going to happen to me.

I'm so glad you went to the ER right away! Women don't have the typical heart attack symptoms and that was a very elevated blood pressure. Good to hear your test results were good, but please be aware of anything out of the ordinary.

Thankfully you are home and going to be all right.
It was a good call on your part to go in to have someone see you.
I have a family physician, but he's a pill pusher and I often question his methods of treating me, so I almost wish that I didn't have one at all so that I'd at least qualify for a better one
Stay well, and try to find what works best to keep your blood pressure down.

@Happy2BeMe It is very frustrating isn't it? And especially as we age, we need to have a primary care giver to monitor any changes that we undergo, clinics are all right in a pinch, but an actual family doctor would be better. I suppose that we can thank our government for allowing the universities to charge what they do for tuitions that turn potential doctors off and point them into another direction which would require few years of education.

@Juliaacv it is frustrating. I hope some day to have a doctor and with any luck a good one. I find the younger doctors just come and go. They don't stay any length of time before they move on.

@Happy2BeMe Sometimes our blood pressure just changes, even on meds. Take good care of yourself. You could get a good monitor in any pharmacy and check it yourself.

@Happy2BeMe I try not to go there either, but ended up there twice last year and both times they incarcerated me. The first time for a week, the second for four days followed by a month in the nursing home rehabbing a broken leg.

Thank you. I was scared enough to go to the ER and that is saying something for me because I never go there unless it is real bad.

Oh gosh - how scary! I can imagine the stress of not knowing what's going also adds to the blood pressure, so I'm glad you did have it checked out. Sorry to have come into this post so late - hope you are doing much better now!

That blood pressure was off the chart, I'm so glad you went to the hospital, just curious? Why don't you have a family physician, its easy to get one and its free... I love my doctor and when I need him, he is there. Oh I see you are on a waiting list...I hope you get a doctor soon!
