Do you believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?

I don’t know where or when this notion came about. But many people believe that this is true; that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Perhaps it’s because it is the meal that gets the day started. And that one can skip all other meals except breakfast However, there have not been any reliable studies done to show the truth of this statement. Personally I don’t think it’s the most important meal of the day. I think all meals are important and that one should not skip any meals. What do you think?

For Americans it is, here in Europe not at all, we eat very little in the morning and more at lunch.

@LadyDuck I wonder why is it that in Europe breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. Is it because of tradition or some other reasons?

@LadyDuck Yes, whenever I visit London I would go for the full cooked English breakfast - mushrooms, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, tomatoes etc and finish up with a nice cup of hot tea. Just thinking of it makes my mouth water.

@succeednow I think it is an old habit, only British have a full breakfast, all the others Europeans have a very light breakfast.

breakfast is my first thought when i wake up, but it's usually just coffee and bread with peanut butter, egg, cheese or tuna, not heavy.

@hereandthere Some people would rather take a heavy breakfast later in the morning and they call it brunch.

@hereandthere And then no dinner but a late night supper. In that way they also get their 3 meals a day!

All i know is that i'm never a fan of eating breakfast for more than a decade now. I start my day with a mug of coffee and wait for few hours before i grab a meal.

@MGjhaud That proves at least to you that breakfast is not so important after all, right?

I believe that breakfast is important because we eat it at the start of the day. We need something to give us energy for the whole day's work... My children and I are used to eat breakfast... Having no breakfast affects my physical and mental functions.

@magallon I suppose that if you're used to eat breakfast every morning then going without would not be a good idea. Thanks for sharing.

I think so. You gotta eat something when you wake up from that long hours of sleep. I mean the last time you ate was last night before you hit the bed.

@rachz_kisses Not necessarily the case for me as I don't feel hungry when I wake up. I need to wait for a couple of hours before I feel hungry but I "force" myslef to eat because I thought that one shouldn't miss breakfast.

@succeednow I take light breakfast because like you, I don't feel hungry when I wake up. But I still need to drink coffee to warm my tummy.

A heathy breakfast in the morning jumps start your brains. I just discussed about the same a few days back. You may even skip lunch if you had biggest meal in the morning..

@Hasana I think skipping meals is not good for health. One should take regular meals.

@succeednow once in a while is OK, But breakfast must be like kings, so that you dont have to depend on lunch.

I tend to think that the breakfast is the most important meals compares to lunch and dinner. People said the best is to eat like a king in breakfast. Whereas we should eat like a beggar in dinner

For me,it is the most important. I usually wake super hungry that if i skip meal i would pass out.

@Iam_jauntyjen For me it's the opposite. It seems that my stomach is still asleep when I get up. I need to 'force' myself to eat even though I don't feel hungry.
