Do you spoil and pamper your pets? Do you treat them as part of the family, Do they replace humans for affection?

Bailey - Bailey
I don't know if one would say that I spoiled of pampered them...wait...when KC goes into heat, I cut a hole in the diaper and Pamper her butt! lol No, really. We treat our dogs as if they are one of us. They sleep in our beds. We love them and give them treats. They even get a bath once a week! Do they replace human affection? No, but they have feelings too. So we respect that they have and need too.

i teat my animals better than i treat most people. i love my animals endlessly and i talk to them, hold them, pet them....ive them all the affection and respect as many would give another person. They ARE a part of the family. i have 4 cats and 2 dogs and in some ways, i dont feel it is enough.

Yes, definitely agree 'Animals are better than humans' if my housemate had his way we'd have a house full of cats! He talks cats morning, afternoon and night!

yes I pamper my cat but I would do the same for any living thing that gave me the love and loyalty that my cat gives to me....

How true, and animals give more love and loyalty than any of my ex partners have done in the past! Ours are treated like kings and queens. Thank you for your reply.

my dog is not pampered, he's in the house, because he's too small to be outside, but he's treated like a dog, I don't dress him up, he's not allowed on the furniture, and my kids play with him but the minute he growls at one of them, we yell at him. Even if my daughter who is one, she likes to pull at his tail and hug him, and he doesn't like it, but she doesn't know better, so we yell at him to stop growling. But my husband won't allow him to be pampered.

Everyone once in a while spoils their pet, or they do it often. Yes, we pamper our dogs and they are just like little humans and are definatley part of the family! A piece of my heart would be gone without both of them! They sleep in our beds and one is even allowed on the couch! The other dog has to short of legs to jump that high. And the one that sleeps with me...I even allow under the covers! Are animals pampered? I think every animal should be!!

Yes, I do treat my pet as a part of the family. I think she is truly no different than a human being and therefore should be treated as no less than one. I love her loyalty, her companionship and the fact that I have complete trust and faith in her. She is everything I would like to have in a friend. Sometimes I do find that your pets can replace humans for affection, because I feel sometimes you get more affection from a dog compared to a human being.. That is more sincere. I find when a dog shows you a form of affection it's so much more sincere compared to the affection you sometimes may receive from another human being within your life. A human can sometimes fake the affection they are wanting or are showing you.. A puppy may snuggle or kiss you & you know that they wanting nothing in return other than love.. With another human-being sometimes you don't know if they are just showing you affection because they may want something in return from you. I don't know if I would classify it as spoiling or pampering her, but I buy her snacks and treats every once and a while. I'll usually go for something like a dentabone or something to help clean off her teeth. As well, we've gotten into the habit of buying her clothes (hoodies actually) to help keep her warm especially on these cold winter nights when she has to go out to the bathroom. I would really worry and I can't believe that when it was this cold last year, I was letting her out with no sweater on! My puppy gets treated as an equal part of this family just like any other member in it. The only thing she doesn't do ALL the time is eat dinner when we do. She'll usually eat when my other half gets in from work instead. I love having her as a part of the family because I can always look to her for inspiration or for a lifting of my spirit when I'm not feeling great. I enjoy doing things like taking her for a walk outside around the block or just going out to the backyard in the summer to play a game of fetch. It's actually funny, you can get her all worked up by just chanting to her "Go Patchy Go." She'll end up racing around the backyard as fast as she can. It's hilarious to watch and it's another reason I consider her a part of the family, for the way she entertains. When I look at her I see one of the smartest dogs ever. She knows exactly when to come to my rescue and when to be nothing but snuggly. I love that she knows how to be those different ways and especially when to be like that. She's a truly amazing little puppy and I sure am glad to have her as such a big part of my life. I've had a couple other puppies during my life that I could consider family as well and you could tell by my reaction when I was forced on two different occasions that I had to choose between my puppy or something else. If I could go back I would have definitely changed my decision and kept the puppy. One's name was Lil Bear and the other was Sparky. I loved them both so much and having to choose between them and something else was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to face. I wish actually that Sparky, Lil Bear and my puppy Patchy all knew each other. I could see them all having a blast together as friends, playing in the back yard and all getting into trouble at the same time. In conclusion, I guess you could say I pamper or spoil my pet, even though I look at it as just treating her with respect and loving her as much as I can. She's a sweetheart & a great protector & I love every little thing about her. Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

My cat is very spoiled. I treat her like a human. We spend a lot of time together. She sleeps next to me. Sits next to me when I'm doing home work or watching tv. She eats her food when I'm eating. She waits for me by the front door. I buy her special treats. Sometimes I give her a bit of eggs or rice. She won't drink milk though. She has cat nip. I brush her regularly. She even had a fountain she drank from as opposed to a water bowl. It broke, and we haven't got her a new one yet, but we're working on it. She sits on the side of the tub and dangles her tail in the water when I'm bathing. She even has her own room with toys, a giant bean bag, etc (It's not really her own room... we have our books and dj stuff in there... but when she has to be locked in for repair men coming, etc that's where she goes.

We do pamper our pets and treat them as part of the family, but they do not replace humans for affection. Of course, they are good comforters when you are mad at humans! Our dog jumped up on our couch yesterday after coming in the house and had mud all over her feet! I was a little ticked! But she's my baby, so she wasn't scolded too badly.

My dog is just spoiled. He is my only naughty little baby. he gets all the attention and all the love and care especially since he is my only constant companion as well. I treat him like a baby. He acts like it anyway. :)

Yes I pamper our pets .And yes we treat them as part of the family . I guess I would have to say that they fill the gap .my children are adults now so I don't get your hug tank filled as much as when they were little and liked to be cuddled all the time. It is really quite theraputic to be able to stroke your cat or dog .I have 2 cats and 1 dog and they are a joy to us. They had to the laughter in the house and to the conversation as well .

I did spoil my Golden Retriever, but had to have her put down recently. I don't have any children so I guess she was the closest thing to a child, and I did feel like her mother. At one point I was very ill and bed ridden, and she was by my side the whole time, bringing her toys and treats to me while I was in bed sleeping. I think she knew how sick I was and I truly believe that she helped me get better.

I don't think I spoil my cats, but they are definitly pampered. We treat them as if they were kids, they get to sleep where they like, normally the bed or sofa. Only one of them is really affectionate at the moment the other is still young and too hyperactive to want cuddles.

Definitely yes. We have 2 pugs that are big babies and we treat them like that. They're just like our kids. Our kids joke that we treat the dogs better than we do them.
