Yolanda Candlelight Memorial

Philippines
November 8, 2016 7:05pm CST
It’s been three years but we remembered it as if it was just yesterday…. November 8, 2016 marked as third year anniversary after super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) devastated my hometown. It brought strong winds and storm surge that destroyed properties and left thousands of people dead. Since then we held a Candlelight Memorial every year. Families and survivors gathered around to light a candle to offer prayers for those who have perished. (c) Photos were taken by yours truly.

We are rising and moving forward. But what happened to us will be a lesson, hopefully not just to us, but for the country as well.

The whole world was there to lend a hand, We won't be able to rise back if not for their help. Our experience on that tragic day will never be forgotten and will mark as a lesson to always be prepared.

Oh, so you're from Samar or Leyte, Ms. Rach. Did you lose any relative to Yolanda?

@rachz_kisses And it's a shame that there are still many people who believe and idolize those crooks who pocketed the Yolanda funds. Until now, only few houses have been built despite the billions the previous administration received. I'm happy to know that of your family and relatives was hurt or perished during that dreadful chapter in our country's history.

@sunrisefan Yolanda housing project is still an issue up to this date. Heard that the money was funded on one of the candidates last election. Anyway, we know who helped us and who was just making an act. Lot of good actors during that time.

That is such a nice gesture... the small crosses have names of people on them?
