Some people are very traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving and have turkey plus various side dishes. I am like that too. some people will have brisket, ham, duck or something else...or do a vegetarian thing..What about you?? turkey?

We have turkey, and a lot of veggies. A few times my mom and I had frozen dinner turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy because we were celebrating alone. Haha, it was still nice.

What's Thanksgiving all about? I am interested in American culture. I like the idea of the various side dishes and turkey.

It was originally started as something the pilgrims celebrated for surviving the year in the new world. It is now an excuse for families and friends to get together,,,to overeat and go comatose on food and football.! It is the American way..

In fact I haven't eaten a turkey before. Turkey is a rare food here and I haven't seen them available in the market or supermarket yet. Perhaps it will be available in the five stars hotel. Besides, Thanksgiving is not our traditional holiday. So we don't really celebrate it.

Last year we had a traditional thanksgiving dinner: I made green beans casserole, baked yam and marshmallow, and I broiled some turkey, not the whole bird as it is just the 2 of us. This year, however, we are going to Mexico. We will still get turkey from our work but I guess we will have them for Christmas instead.
