I have been hearing a lot lately, not about the health risks of salt but the dangers of too little salt. Recently in my city a young woman died because she used a drug which made her extremely thirsty, drank gallons of water and died.Cause of death was not the drugs but the lack of salt in he body. While the The FDA continues to call for the reduction of sodium in diets, the Weston A Price Foundation is warning the FDA that placing restrictions on dietary salt can pose a serious threat to the health of humans. Just goes to show that everything in moderation is the best way to go. While too much salt may kill you slowly, too little salt can kill you quickly. Without salt no one can survive.
Insufficient sodium intake brought by a low-salt diet may actually be dangerous to your health.

When I was a child salt was added to many foods - boiled vegetables, into stews and casseroles and sprinkled on meat dishes. Then someone decided all this was too much and everyone started cutting down. I think you're absolutely right - moderation in all things works best.

Salt makes most foods taste better so there is the tendency to over do it. On the other hand we do need it to survive

@Freelanzer I know there are some groups they give salt tablets too. Is it maybe marathon runners? Some group that loses a lot of salt through sweating.

The FDA was saying that we could eat more salt than earlier figured. I do wish they would make up their minds.

We always hear about the negatives of certain foods and we tend to get rid of it all together instead of exercising moderation.

Like everything else in life - moderation is key. Good topic.

Instead of telling people how much of something they should have, should be calling for moderation instead
