You dont Bring me Flowers, anymore!

Two of my favourite artists, Barbara Steisand and Neil Diamond, are bombarding my head this morning with the classical song "You dont bring me flowers, anymore"
On such a day like today for the last 57 years, the first greeting or call of the morning would be from my mother . . . but not today.
Birthdays are a little different since my mom passed away in August a year ago, and even though it doesnt bother me on any other day, my birthday morning seems just a little emptier without that one wish.
My mother loved cut flowers and whenever I got the chance I would take her a bunch because after my dad left, there was an emptyness, she never got flowers anymore. I personally dont like cut flowers as I prefer to enjoy their blooms in the in the garden.
So today is a up-sy 57th Birthday celebration with some flowers in a photograph, a soft whisper of my moms voice in my head, and a song in my heart.
This morning I am having cheesecake with my two very best friends, then Tea at bowls with 60+ bowling friends, and this evening the entire family will be making Home-made Hamburgers on the grill under the super moon and stars at my home. Great celebrations!

I feel your loss, as both of my parents are gone, as well, but it's wonderful that you can enjoy a lovely day with friends and family, and of course we know cheesecake always makes everything better. Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday, Inlemay! Many happy returns of the day!
Uhm... I don't want to be a buzz kill today of all days, but I was just thinking about my mom, too. (She passed away right before Thanksgiving in 2002.)
You're right... Nothing is quite the same after she passed.
