Mama Called the Doctor and the Doctor Says. . .

Actually I e mailed the doctor, just now.
My knee has been popping in and out sideways. I cannot bear weight when I walk and I have pain from my ankle up to my hip. Mostly in the knees though.
The doctor says "no work this week" and "stay off your feet" and "use an immobilizing splint or brace on your knee". "Your knee cap is very loose".
I guess I will see you tomorrow. I will be taking some stuff for pain and resting a lot as well.

Well that doesn't sound good at all. Do you have a specific brace that you wear to keep your knee in place?

@GardenGerty I've tried elastic sleeves and they roll down. I am considering a wrap around.

@ElusiveButterfly This one stayed up well. I just feel like eventually it makes my ankle swell. I am glad I do not need it all the time.

I just bought an elastic knee sleeve. She may have something else I should use. I may look into some physical therapy.

Yikes that does not sound good. Best to stay off it like the doc says.

I am at home today and off my feet. I really wanted to wake up and find it all gone, but no such luck.

@sallypup I do not know of any damage to my knees, just wear and tear. I hear that women do often have bad knees.

@GardenGerty Most of the women in this house- including Leah pup- have bad knees. My left knee cap moved South years ago when I crashed off a horse. Best of luck to you.

I don't think so. It is not arthritis and wear and tear, it is weak muscles. I may need physical therapy.

It gets a little frustrating when you feel you have things to do.

I hope a lot of rest this week will help it. I will also probably talk to a physical therapist.

I do not believe it is the kind of thing that needs surgery. She did mention physical therapy and exercises, though.

I had similar happen thirteen years ago and missed three days of work. The rest seems to help, but I would like to know how to prevent it.

It is. I think I will boost my turmeric intake and hope it helps sooner.

So if your kneecap is loose then staying off your leg and wearing the brace will make it go back to not being loose?

It will make it go back into place, and then I will have to exercise to get the muscles to hold it together.

I am not. I have an elastic brace on my knee. I have a stool to sit on in the kitchen. I am pretty bored though.

It is painful when I stand and walk and it seems to run up and down my entire leg.

@Happy2BeMe I think I get muscle spasms from sitting in a drafty place and that makes it worse.
