In a week, we are moving - moving over 1000 miles away from home. We have bought small farm on a remote Scottish island of the North coast of Scotland! We are mega excited by it all - if a little daunted at how soon we will be off!
The island has one shop, one pub and a school with 11 pupils and 3 teachers, lucky for us there is an airport but the planes only land once a week.
We plan on being as self sufficient as we can, keeping chickens for meat and eggs, pigs, and sheep for meat and wool - as well as growing a load of our own veggies.
Mega excited!
I hope that this is the last time we move!

Keep us informed..it sounds pretty exciting. To live off the land sounds very adventurous. All things will be pure and organic.

@WorDazza I have started a blog about the adventures where pics and info will be uploaded, blog may just appear on my profile here.
The main bit of the cottage dates back to the late 1790's with a wealth of history of murders and suspicious drownings. Not that I am a history buff ;)
The island is covered in standing stones and burial cairns - many of them have not yet been execervated, and the one on the land is just so. . . But we think it is - it is a raised stone mound covered in earth with three dwarf standing stones placed on top. . . Mrs's calls it a neolithic rockery!

So you'll be off the net then?
Did I remember you saying a while ago there was no electric?

@Mike197602 Solar panels are not too good up there - not in winter anyway as there is only 1 - 2 hours of sunlight per day, but there is a community owned wind turbine that feeds into the national grid. Once we have been resident for 2 years, we get shares in it - giving us free electricity and a share of profits. . . So we will have to put up with elec bills for the first two years - and then. . happy days!
