Fire in the morning and storm coming up tonight

At past 6 this morning as I was talking to a friend on the phone, my attention was diverted to a neighbor running. I excused myself from my friend and went out to check and saw very thick smoke in the sky nearby and therefore went out into the street and saw very big flames burning a house a few hundred meters from our home. I was worried then because I knew that one of those old people I visit on Sundays lived near the fire scene. I was worried for her because she was on a wheelchair. I went to their house and saw that she was already out into her garden. The burning house was at the back of her home. Good thing 3 fire trucks of the city and 2 from the Chinese volunteer fire brigade arrived immediately. A little later, a fire truck from a neighboring town also arrived. The fire was put out but the house was almost razed to the ground because it was an old house made of wood and some concrete so it was easily eaten up by the flames. Earlier tonight, my neighbor and I received advisories from our telco that our province is under Signal No. 1 for a storm that is coming in 36 hours. Earlier this morning, flights and and sea travel were already cancelled and and it's unfortunate for nursing graduates of 3 universities here who are about to take their board exams in a neighboring island. I hope the storm dissipates and does not do damage anywhere else.

Thanks God that the woman on the wheelchair is safe from the fire. I felt sorry for those who lost their homes. Where will those people be staying? I hope that the local government will be able to extend help to the victims as much as possible. I hope too that the storm will not be the strong or much better to be totally vanished.

@sunrisefan Yes, it has been raining a lot here too. I was outside and my umbrella was not in a good condition that I had to buy a new one.

@annierose Hehehe! I guess the storm is now hovering north of our place and probably within your vicinity. It may exit the country tomorrow.

Only one house was burned because 5 firetrucks (plus one which arrived later) arrived on time. The stormed has bypassed us but it's raining at the moment as soon as we arrived home from the mall.

I am glad the storm didn't materialize in your place . As to that fire , good thing the one you visit every Sunday was already taken out outside and that their house didn't get burned . It's scary when there is a fire even if t is a bit of a distance from your house . Sometimes when it is windy and there's a fire there is the possiblity that t can spread fast even to those at a distance .

Yes, Ms. Michelle, so far it's just been cloudy and I guess the storm has already passed by and moved farther north and we are thankful to God for that because it's our city's annual fiesta today. A fiesta is sort of the same as your Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. Many households here prepare food and have visitors come.

According to the news, storm Marce is not a very strong typhoon. There are no possibilities that signal 1 will be changed to signal2 or 3.

Thanks fr wishing for our safety, my friend. Hoping the same for our neighboring provinces that are in the stronger Signal No.2 and I hope the nursing students will make it to their board exams on time.

@Happy2BeMe So far, it's calm this early morning but the National Disaster & Risk Reduction Management Council's advisory it will cross over our city and province this morning. Too bad it's coming exactly on the city's annual fiesta when city residents have many visitors for fiesta parties in their homes.
