Do you like eating fish head?

fish head

I think everywhere's food habit is quite different. Perhaps some areas will never think about making a dish with the fish head. However, here the fish head is even much more expensive than the fish body. The fish head can be fried or made it as a soup. It is very delicious. Will you be interested in trying it?

Fish heads are used by French chefs to prepare some sauces and fish fumet. I am not a chef, and at home they are reserved for my cat.

It has to be large fish heads that are known to be meaty, you will be surprised at the type of flesh so different from the body. Filipinos turn smaller fish heads to something crispy, you eat the whole thing, tahda! No bones

Yes sour soup with tamarinds and vegetables or " sinigang" is very common to us but might be too exotic for some of our friends.

I am waiting for the disgusted westerners to comment here. Yes I do eat fish heads. Anglosphere people will freak out because they were so used to have boneless and skinless fish fillets from groceries.

Westerner here lol. In the western islands of Scotland we eat a meal of fish heads, members of the cod family. Phonetically it is sounded corn cropic. It is normal to drink the cooking liquids. very tasty and very healthy. this westerner loves his food, be it heads or tails lol. Enjoyed reading this thread friends.

I suppose I would try it if someone asked me to or cooked it for me but I don't think I would order it or eat if if I could avoid it. Do you like sheep brains?

I haven't tried the sheep brains yet. But I know in country like Morocco has a famous dish that made from sheep brain. If I travel there, perhaps I will try it anyway. I always like to try something new rather than the food I get used to everyday.

In Spain, we use the head of a fish to make fish soup. But, during the cooking process, we cook the head in the water and then we take the head out. At the end, we don't leave the entire head in the soup, so only the inside or content of it.

I understand it now. Here usually we use the fish which have very big head and this is why we can also eat it. The fish head price is even much more expensive than the fish itself

@Meramar Here it is different. The fish can be sold as the heads, bodies, tails and so on

@youless The difference is that here the fish is sold completely. They don't sell the head seperately. But, you can say if you don't want the head and they take it off.

I have seen fish head prepared but have never mastered the technique of eating a fish head. My husband says I'm missing out! He's an island boy who loves his seafood. In The Bahamas, they don't believe in cutting off the fish head. All of the fish gets eaten. Including the eyes!!
