Christmas Spirit

Haven't really been too much into the Christmas spirit this year. Moved away from the place I called home just over a year ago. I do pretty good thru the year but it's around the holidays I get kinda mopey. I always spent it with my grandparents and they both passed away last year so even if I went back it wouldn't be like home. There's nothing really left there for me anymore Just two aunts that are my rocks. Today, has been a little better with taking my little boy to see Santa and making cookies. I bake all year round so that's not a change. It's this time that I can share them with all. I feel sad for not being all into Christmas when I have a have a son who loves it but it's so hard. I still participate in all the festivities but my whole heart just isn't in it. I hate that I am in a funk and just wish I could get out of it. Things are just rough right now and with fighting with depression and anxiety it just makes things worse.

That's natural. It's so hard getting into the spirit, especially when the weather isn't like it's supposed to be, right? It's in the freakin' 70s here, for pete's sake!! I'm still not used to Christmas here. I lived here for 28 years before I moved back home and in all that time felt like a stranger in an alien world. The way I feel now. I know, I'm not making you feel better, but it's the truth. You may never grow to love where you are so the holidays feel natural.
I think it's a little early to get into the holiday spirit, myself. Mine starts when my tree goes up on the 18th. December 1-17 is for shopping and doing the "business" of modern Christmas. December 18-Jan 1 is for the fun, the love, the celebration of Jesus, enjoying my friends and family. I think people rush the season too much these days and we feel that we are expected to "be in the spirit" for 6 weeks or more. That's a lot of pressure!
You just feel what you feel and don't worry about what you're supposed to feel. It'll work out.

It's crazy but I just want to be cold and see snow. It's hard when it's pretty warm for the most part

Sometimes it is hard to get into the spirit, especially when we miss our loved ones. I am having a hard time this year because we are going to be moving soon so we don't have any gifts for our kids just yet and we're not decorating until we move. It's not feeling like Christmas around here yet...

I know the feeling. I haven't put up a X-mas tree in over 3 years. Two years ago, my mother passed away. Last year, my brother went to Europe for a family X-mas vacation. This year, I'm getting to the spirit, bit by bit. Hang in there. I do go to church for mass too.

Hope you'll feel good in the coming days..
Christmas is the time where we should enjoy and feel the spirit of the birth of Jesus Christ.
I know what you are going through and I hope you'll stay strong for your son.
Prayers could help..
Stay healthy and fine my friend...

I know how you feel. I use to spend every Christmas with my mom and dad and they have both passed. I have a family of my own but I find myself struggling with things this time of year. I am glad you have a son to help you through it.

I am not feeling very Christmasy either. Things just aren't going well, and it depresses me. The only good thing is that I have alot of Amazon certificates so I will be able to get nicer gifts than I have been able to the last few years.
