Day 96
Proverbs 14:13
Proverbs 14:13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
When circumstances sideswipe you it’s hard to be happy about anything. You can try to laugh about various things that would normally bring much joviality with it, but that laughter hits a sour note because inside you are weeping.
Solomon could speak with authority about having a sorrowful heart with all the problems in his family. A brother who murdered another brother, and that same brother wanting to usurp the kingdom from his father. He also had many wives, which can bring its own troubles.
As Christians Paul urged the saints to share their circumstances so they could rejoice or weep with each other and so bring encouragement to the person with the heavy heart.
Romans 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. (KJV)
It is easier to work through a tough situation when you can share it with another person who understands and will bring encouragement to you and lift you up in prayer.
Be a blessing to someone today or let someone bless you when you share your tough circumstances that cause your heavy heart.
Let’s pray: Father, help me be a blessing to those whose heart is heavy today and can’t laugh and only want to weep. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

I think sometimes, the better way to help is not.. so the person can learn from their mistakes, as oppose to learn that they can always rely on other.

This proverb also reminds me of Ecclesiastes, where the message is joy without God is empty, that I totally agree with

Yes, when things have not worked as we hoped, it is good to have a sympathetic ear and some encouragement.
