People borrowing things from me drives me crazy

Anytime people borrow my things they do not return them or give things back with pieces missing etc. I usually say no due to this anytime people ask me to borrow things.
I never borrow anything. If I need something I buy it! I worry if I borrow something I will ruin it so I'd rather not borrow things from others.
A few months ago my man borrowed my staple gun and has not returned it. I need to fix my medicine cabinet and I keep reminiding him to drop it off to me but he hasn't. He borrowed my sons multiuse screwdriver years ago when it was brand new and he never gave it back.
My mother borrowed my hair buzzers a month ago and didn't bring them back so I went over and got it. I just used it last night to cut my sons hair and they wouldn't cut. I adjusted them and then they cut but were so loud and rattling it hurt my ears. I asked her what she did to it and she said she took it all apart to clean it. All your supposed to do is brush the hair off not take it apart!
I woke up in the night last night and it took me two hours to fall back asleep because I was so irritated over it.

I have had problems over the years lending things out. I really can't find a reasonable excuse for people anymore, except to say that people are just selfish today. I don't think that it was like this along time ago, people had no choice but to help family, friends and neighbors and they did it with kindness. Most people treated the items with great care and promptly returned them. Today's world is more of an "entitlement" society. People think that no biggie, they can buy another, they have the money. I have heard people use those words, "whatever, they have money." Sad.
I don't lend things often and we hardly ever borrow, but when we do, we take care of the item and promptly return it.

Yes I agree it is best not to borrow anything or to allow anybody to borrow your stuff. It is almost guaranteed that either way something will happen to it. I prefer to buy my own stuff if I need it.

I know how you feel I hate when you don't get stuff back right away from people when they borrow it but expdct you to give it back right away is a different story.

'neither a lender nor a borrow be' - seems that many folks'n yer life missed that train. the hubs loaned one'f my good, ol' saddles to a buddy 'f his coz he said he couldn't find a 15" saddle fer his wife. she ne'er used 't to my knowledge. been nearly 10 years now'n i still aint seen my saddle. i'm purty certain that when they fell'n hard times, they either pawned 'r sold 't :( t'was a family heirloom'n near mint condition when 't went to their place.
i always did without if'n i couldn't afford to get my own whate'er.

@crazyhorseladycx My son pulled on the cabinet one day while he climbed on the stool to brush his teeth. It pulled it away from the back and was hanging away from the wall. I asked my man if he could fix it for me and he just pushed it back in a little (this was back when he and his son lived here). It has worked its way away from the wall again and needs to be fixed correctly. I have to take it down and staple the backing back on then rehang it.

that man'f yers ought to've fixed that cabinet fer ya. 'nless yer like myself 'n feared if'n he touched't 'gain such'd jest disappear yet 'gain. sigh...some folks jest make yer head hurt, don't they?

I agree with you on this. If I ever have to borrow something, I always make sure to return it soon and all in one piece. I would feel real guilty and bad about myself not to return it in good time and with pieces missing!

I told my man what happened to the buzzer and he said he would look at it and see if he can fix it.

I hate it when people don't take care of items they borrow. And some don't seem a bit concerned about returning items.

I share my things or borrow only with people very close to me. Close people don't let ur things get damaged or hurt.
When things are supposed to be shared with any neighbors or in very far relationship then u should forget to get it back or no damage.

that is really, I don't mind letting my things borrowed by people as long as they know how to return it not damage, its different story when they return it damaged or too many days before returning it to me.

My man finally just returned it tonight after my reminding him many times lately. He said he had it so long he couldnt remember even whose it was and asked a few people if it was theirs but they said no. Im glad I have it back now!
